Dame Edna collection at MAC
Tell someone “you look like a drag queen” and they may take it as a disrespect. Not me! It’s basically the same as saying “Wow, killer makeup!” Granted, not a look I’d want for everyday. But there are times when you want an over-the-top, fierce look.
That pretty much sums up the Dame Edna Collection at MAC. For the most part, this isn’t your run errands/pick up the kids/Sunday Brunch look. It’s your night out on the town look. The collection is mostly cool, so you purple lovers out there will be quite pleased. And the shades are bright, VERY bright. 2 eye palettes with purples, blues and greys. 3 gorgeous lipsticks in ranging degrees of “get your sunglasses” shades (the star of the whole collection for me being Gladiola, a matte mid-tone blue pink. Bright and absolutely beautiful.) And 3 new lip glass shades, all with multidimensional pearl (read: sparkle!) For those who have Limited Edition disorder like me, you’re going to have a hard time passing up the line for the packaging alone-purple with red glitter cat-eye glasses!
This is a fun collection. My shopping mates each bought 2 items. Personally, I’m saving up for the incredible amounts of money I’m going to be spending on two upcoming February releases I was lucky enough to get a peek at: Brunette, Blonde, Redhead (which is set to have a re-release of my all time favorite lipstick from the 2006 Catherine Deneuve collection-Strawberry Blonde) and the…wait for it…Hello Kitty collection.

Ohh, I love the red cat-eyeglass design on the packaging! I would buy something from this line, just to get that!! I passed the MAC on Robertson Blvd on my way into the office this morning (boo, back to work) and saw a whole wall of neon lighting spelling out Dame Edna like the pink font above – it was all I could do not to jump out of the car and run in for some shopping! Very intrigued with the Hello Kitty line as well – hope it’s not too pink and sparkly.
I browed these at Mac Counter one day last week. I love the eye palettes and the lipsticks. I didn’t like the glass shades so much.
Speaking of your Limited Edition sickness – have you seen the new Smurfette collection from TooFaced?
Oh I love this collection! I got the Royal Tour Eye Trio and I love it!! Two gorgeous purples and a shiney navy. & then I couldn’t resist the Kanga Rouge lipstick. I love red lipstick and have an abundance but this one is such a perfect matte. And the packaging is so sweet!
I recommend it to anyone who’s looking for some major
fun colors that have that trusted MAC staying power.

T-the Hello Kitty line is surprising is not too sparkly or young. But it’s pretty pink. The packaging is too die for though. Why does Hello Kitty turn grown woman into teens again?
