Enter Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser a product that is somehow gentle yet powerful all at the same time. This smoothes skin texture while cleansing impurities with a trio of exfoliating acids; Salicylic, Lactic and Glycolic Acid. And the scrub factor lies in the jojoba beads that polish and smooth skin.
AHA/BHA, what exactly are they, you (and I) may wonder. With a bit of research I learned that AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) are derived from different sources of fruit and milk sugars. But there is only one BHA (beta hydroxy acid), salicylic acid, and it is derived from Aspirin. So while it’s powerful, it’s also an anti-irritant (even more so than AHA). It’s like a cocktail with an anti-hangover agent!
The main difference between AHA and BHA is their oil solubility. AHA are water soluble only, while BHA is oil soluble. This means that BHA is able to penetrate into oil clogged pores and exfoliate the dead skin cells that are built up inside the pores. Why use both? It’s kind of the 1, 2 punch. BHA penetrates oily skin and blocked pores better. And AHA helps draw hydrating ingredients into the skin.

Oh to find a great product just thrills me to no end!
Listen up! AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser gets a whopping five stars from me! *****it’s marvelous and intensive! It’s an amazing exfoliator and your face will just glow as if you had just seen Jesus! You get the picture! I used it only once and was shocked at its effectiveness. I just used it again last night and am even more impressed.
Whoa Nelly, this product absolutely delivers! You are left with a clean face and it removed all the dull, dead, dry and flakey looking skin right off! No, it’s not turpentine, It’s amazing Murad! I have been sick like the rest of the nation with that horrible chest infection and you know how that can take a toll on you. But I was told this morning that I looked like I had a healthy glow again. I believe it was from this!
It works by refining your skin with its polishing jojoba beads and sodium PCA. Say so long to that icky dullness. Thanks to the wonderful ingredients of Salicylic, Lactic and Glycolic Acids. These acids are champions at dissolving aging surface cells. These acids are your friends!
Once again, I was caught living under the rocks of ignorance, why didn’t I know about this stuff? I’m how old now? Where have I been? I thought this was crazy good! (ghastly English, I know) I highly recommend this for anyone who has skin like mine. My skin is dry and sensitive. The best news to me is there is an exfoliation product available that’s non-irritating! Impossible, you say? No, it’s oh so true! This 12 oz. bottle of Cleanser will last me months too!
I was so excited to try this product! A facial cleanser that fights aging and acne? Sign me up! The scrub texture was very gentle and not horribly abrasive, which is good because I have sensitive skin, but you can definitely feel it doing its job. When you try this (and you will because your life will be empty otherwise) be prepared for an initial breakout. My skin broke out horribly after a week of using this, but I think it’s because my pores were clearing out because now my skin is nearly flawless a few weeks into using this product and this scrub is even diminishing the spots those blemishes left in record time. Don’t be discouraged, give it a few weeks to kick in. I also noticed that my complexion looked paler than usual and I realized that this scrub also calmed my skin and took all of the redness that I didn’t even realize I had right out of it. My skin is smoother, calmer, and I’m a very happy girl right now :)
I LOVE this cleanser! This is one hard working product. This is exactly that. I’ve been using it 2-3 times a week for that extra oomph of cleaning (that’s the recommended usage) and my skin has been so pleased. I didn’t get the initial breakout that Krista did (K, you must be extra dirty!) What I did get was amazingly soft skin, like baby soft skin. This just dissolves all the nasty stuff hanging around your complexion-dead skin, clogged pores, etc. And I love that as the acids are really doing the hard work, the jojoba beads still give you a bit of gentle scrubbing action. Best of all, I have never seen less blackheads on my face ever! I usually have a lovely dusting of them across my nose and they have entirely disappeared. I too, am a happy, happy girl.
Another 5+ stars from me! Like the serum I was a bit afraid to try this because of my sensitive face but my face LOVES it! I use it twice a week and have notice my usually dry skin is looking smoother and less dry! I had a little break out right after the initial use too Krista, but like you within a few weeks my skin has looked all around smoother, my pores seem smaller too.
I don’t know whether to thank the scrub or the serum, I think the combo platter is my skins new favorite team!
Whatever it is, these Murad products live up to their reputation as a skin care leader. I only wish I had tried them a few years ago =)

I have to say I love this cleanser. First of all, it’s a huge tube. It looks like it will last for quite awhile. It instantly went in my shower as soon as I got it because I knew this would be something I would reach for a lot. It makes my skin feel so baby soft and does give my skin that extra clean glow we all love to get. Best of all, it isn’t irritating at all like some scrubs can be. I’ve been a big fan of Murad and will continue to buy their great products. This cleanser earns 5 stars from me!
This cleanser is the best! It’s gentle, yet effective and leaves my skin feeling soooo soft. The exfoliating scrub is so soft it almost feels like sugar, yet it’s powerful. It rinses so clean though, my skin practically squeaks. I know this from only using it a few times in the last few weeks, but I can’t wait to use this more regularly to see if it has the same effects on me the other girls mentioned – helping with blackheads and red splotches, etc. I’m using it very sparingly right now being pregnant. BHA/salicylic acid is one of those chemicals you need to ask your doctor about using when you’re pregnant. Doctors have differing opinions on it’s safety because you can’t test it on preggos to see the effects, but because it’s aspirin-derived, it may be unsafe to use while pregnant. Some would say avoid it in all forms completely; some would say this particular product should be fine, as it’s just a scrub, and not sitting on your skin and absorbing. I absolutely love it though, give it 5 stars and can’t wait to use it every other day!
Another 5 star review right here! Murad’s Exfoliating Cleanser is right up at the top of my list for facial scrubs (and I’ve tried almost everything out there). The amount and feel of their “scrubbies” is just perfect. Never scratchy or irritating with just enough oomph to whisk away all that flakey skin that keeps springing up on my face this winter. I also love the creamy consistency of the cleanser. It thoroughly washes away all traces of oily (and most make up) and leaves my skin super soft with a nice healthy glow. This product is absolutely great for those lucky ladies (like me) with both aging and acne issues. Speaking of which, I did not notice any new breakouts or pimple action when I started using this. On the flip side of that, I have noticed that some of my red spots from old pimples have slightly faded. I hoping it’s due to this great wash and can’t wait to see what happens with continued use.
I have to agree with Tyna 100%! I received the Exfoliating Cleanser. I LOVE face cleansers and when they’re great like this I am thrilled. Washed away easily and left my skin feeling clean and tight but not a dried out tight, but a clean tight feeling. I noticed that with my other washes, at the end of the day my skin feels oily, just from the environment (los angeles) and with this wash, i’ve noticed my skin stays normal without getting oily at all. I’ve only used it a few times so i can’t comment on the long term effects but i will come back and review again.
