Weekly love list – St. Patrick’s Day

March 14, 2009 | By: stef

Stef loves: holidays. Any excuse to plan a party, a theme menu and perhaps dress my dogs in a costume-I’m all over it. And we’ve got a biggie coming up this week, St. Patrick’s Day. There’s tons of ideas to make this holiday fun but I’ll get you started with one idea each from my holiday criteria listed here. I’m going to make sure to have lots of Guinness on hand. But to whoop it up a bit more, I like the sound of Jameson and Ginger, which is basically just a whiskey highball. That should get the jigs started! My friend and wht member Pamela makes the this incredible Irish Bread Pudding with Caramel Whiskey Sauce. I’ve got a butter soaked recipe card that she made me years ago, but I always hold out for hers. Not to mention, this is approximately 10,000 calories and really should not be eaten more than once a year. Lastly, my dogs will be sporting mini Leprechaun Hats. And they can’t wait!

Tyna loves: attending a craftily planned party! If I was perhaps attending Stef’s St. Patrick’s Day soirée, I would first need to bring a hostess gift. I’m thinking a box of yummy Sprinkles Cupcakes in Irish Chocolate would be perfect. Available online through March 17th, the shamrock-adorned cupcakes are made with Belgian dark chocolate and topped with an Irish cream frosting. Your host can serve them at the party or save them for a day after treat. A good guest should always be able to keep the conversation flowing with anyone, so I’d brush up on my St. Patrick’s Day knowledge over at Hisory.com. And finally, I would need a great outfit. Since St. Patrick’s Day is one holiday that I’ll actually wear holiday themed apparel, I’ve been checking my options. I’m loving this tee featuring Rosie the Riveter (pictured) sporting a Shamrock tattoo. Erin Go Bragh!

Yum, I love the Jameson and Ginger cocktail recipe. I’m adding some the ingredients to my shopping list right now. The Irish Rosie tee is so cool!

The Jameson and Ginger does sound good. If you’re in the mood for a dessert drink, try an IRA Cocktail.

Fill a glass with Crushed Ice
1 oz Bailey’s® Irish cream
1 1/2 oz Irish whiskey (Jameson’s of course)

A sprig of mint is good in this as well. Remember to sip it. It’s got quite a kick.

Welcome to we heart this Mike! You are one lucky fellow being married to the fabulous Kirista!! Love your dessert drink – any drink garnished with sprigs of mint makes me happy.

Wow WHT, if I had Jameson and Ginger, and Irish Bread Pudding with Caramel Whiskey Sauce. I would be the happiest St. Pattys gal in town! Throw that IRA Cocktail in and I think I’d trade in my black dress for a green one LOL!!!!

I’m sure you have heard of this but it’s one of my faves and a must for St Patrick’s Day: The Irish Car Bomb

Fill a glass half full of Guinness
Then get a big shot glass :)
Fill it with 1 oz Bailey’s® Irish cream
1/2 oz Irish whiskey (Jameson’s of course)
Then drop the shot glass in the Guinness and chug!

It’s amazing!
