Whole lot of web love – 4.26.09

The internet destinations that got our heart racing this week. (and if you ever want to share any that do the same for you, please contact us!)

We’re big fans of the indie arts and crafts movement. We’re still amazed at the amazing sites we are finding on twitter, that we somehow never connected with on regular ol’ internet. For instance, I’m not sure how I missed Icing on the Cupcake all those hours I spent trolling etsy. I love this shop where two sisters share their sweet and modern take on home décor and original artwork that’s perfect for children, babies and the young at heart. Current favorites include the Groovy Green Guitars Minky Binky Blanket for babies that rock and demand a super fuzzy, soft bankie for after the show, and I’m drooling over the thought of using this Chocolate Flowers and Polka Dots Rag Quilt for my own naptime bankie – love the vintage inspired fabrics! Don’t forget to check out the colorful, mod artwork and prints (like the pictured “Orange like” print that is one piece in a series of work) that can work in a child’s room, home office or anywhere calling out for fun, original art!

Don’t you love the way indie art has exploded in the past few years via the power of the internet? If you like to shop for unique, handmade items or are an indie artist, we would like to introduce you to Indie Parade. The lovely Meredith has started this blog filled with “handmade eye candy” to highlight the best indie artists have to offer, as well as giving them a community to interact with one another. If you are looking to shop, you will find everything from a charming pouch to hold your Laundry Day quarters (great for college students and those that have to haul everything to the laundromat) to an elegant black and white Toile Laptop Case for classic on-the-go style, to these striking and colorful Dancing Flowers Throw Pillows sure to add some a pop of Spring to any room. Shoppers can sign up for Indie Parade’s Discount Code & Deals email for exclusive savings on Indie Parade items. If you are an indie crafter, you can submit your work for approval to be added to the blogs library. And make sure to stop by the recently opened Indie Parade Community, a forum for craftsters to talk about everything from self-promotion to craft shows to small business advice and more.

Enjoy your web love for the week!
