YouTube week – Island of Misfit Clips
Today we’re showcasing the videos that don’t fit neatly into categories, but we just had to share with you for one reason or another; they make us laugh, they remind us of our youth, they make us say wtf? These are the clips we just had to share.
Stef’s pick: Sorry, I’m going lowbrow on you. But c’mon, farts are funny. We actually had a VHS (!) copy of this in the 90′s. It was the go-to thing to pop in after we stumbled home from a night at the LAVA Lounge.
Tyna’s pick: Props to fourfour for bringing my attention to Wildwood, N.J., a 1994 documentary following the women and teen-age girls that inhabit the boardwalk of this infamous Jersey shore town. There’s so many jaw dropping moments in this clip alone – the chick rocking a mullet and her open-shirted boyfriend (trust me – it’s not different every night!), all the tops with cut-out shoulders, the statue behind the ladies at 0:26, the insane ramblings from girls whose best moment in life is beating the crap out of another girl? Honorable mentions: We find ourselves most drawn to the videos that make you say “huh?” Here are a couple of our favorites. This song is from one of the biggest wtf? movies of all time, Pico and Sepulveda as seen in The Forbidden Zone. Jan Terri stars in the worst 80′s video ever made. We’re always entranced by Japanese Pop Music (warning, wht not responsible for the seizure you are sure to have while watching this). As if Mark Ryden’s art isn’t creepy enough, imagine it coming to life and gorging on sweets!
And the newest member to the wht favorites library, this Jazzercise classic, “Move your Boogie Body.” Seriously, this is so mind-bendingly 80′s and over-the-top, SNL could run this clip and people would think “Man, that Kristen Wiig is a hoot!” Just keep watching – it only gets better.

I watched Move Your Boogie Body with my roomie last night – we keep replaying that ending over and over and over…Hot Dog!
My other favorite part of Move Your Boogie Body is “Do you feel your heart beating? That’s good news!”
That Wildwood NJ is awesome!!! I’m sending that to all of my jersey friends! That is a classic!
I love the Jazzercise video. My sister-in-law jazzercises. Now I will forever imagine her in a leotard and tights doing obscene pelvic thrusts while screaming about hot dogs. There’s not enough awesome in the world to encompass just how awesome that clip was.*swoons*
P.S. Why did the back-up jazzercisers freeze frame so many times? They were like deranged mimes. Deranged mimes with perfectly feathered hair…

My mother-in-law went to school with that farting preacher. These are great! Love the fighting jersey girls. Much better than the New Jersey housewives show. The Jazzercise video wins the prize though. I can’t believe that is real. I’m so forwarding that to my trainer. I want to incorporate some of those moves into my workouts…HOTDOG!

I’m speechless! Giggling like a 7th grader at the farting preacher and slack jawed at the Jersey girls and jazzercise. That routine is awesome – I clicked through to YouTube and saw them warming up to the Christopher Cross theme from Arthur! It’s great – not quite as hilarious as Move Your Boogie Body, but very funny.

I just saw these and almost spit my coffee all over the place.. (bad habit of mine when laughing) These are something else.. Hey ladies, being from New Jersey and going to the shore every summer with my family (Lavallette) we were THANKFULLY spared us from these beauties down in Wildwood- I think the further South you head the worse it got. Although we had Seaside Heights to contend with! I could go for some of those sugar powered Zeppole’s right about now! Oh, how I loved hanging with the same old friends every summer at the boardwalk-
Fart humor is so under-rated! It sure makes me laugh.. I pity those who are too high and mighty for a bit of it! Lastly, all I can say is it’s a crying shame what some (not all) televangelist pass off as Gospel in the ministry. It sure gives Christianity a bad name.. Some of the most precious people I know are in the ministry and do amazing work for no recognition at all. They’re reward is truly going to be in heaven, not here on this earth..
