Weekly love list – A Gift Wrapped Life

This week (as always) I love a beautifully wrapped present. And I’m not talking about getting them. Nope, I’m one of those types that spends just as much time and energy wrapping my gifts as I do picking them out. So, naturally, all this week I’ve been obsessing over ways to rewrap and use the fabulous Jo Malone boxes for future gifts (they’re part and parcel of every purchase from the magical boutique). And that’s when I discovered A Gift Wrapped Life.
If you love boxes, bows, ribbons and the art of gift giving, you’ll love adore A Gift Wrapped Life. This blog is the brainchild of Sande Chase, an interior designer with 20 years experience. Sande made a turn in her life when she realized the joy she received from planning and wrapping her annual holiday gift sets for clients could be her true calling. She launched A Gift Wrapped Life (formerly Oooh la la – Cadeau), an online boutique offering gorgeously wrapped and presented gift sets.
The corresponding blog of A Gift Wrapped Life, lets Sande share her personal wrapping masterpieces, as well as her fabulous finds for the fellow wrapping obsessed. Offering photos, tips and color suggestions, Sande wants to encourage us all to give beautifully. She’s already succeeded in giving me some great ideas for wrapping my Jo Malone boxes (if I can ever part with them – I’m a total hoarder). Check out her gorgeous creations (pictured) from her blog post A Jo Malone Kind of Gal. Sande was inspired by a lovely photograph from Chris Everard to re-gift her Jo Malone boxes using fresh greens with a hint of brown for a spectacular presentation. All right, so I’ve never been inspired by a piece of art when wrapping a gift -my only inspiration is what’s available in my gift wrapping drawer. But, after a few visits to A Gift Wrapped life, I’ve found a muse for my future wrapping creations!

Very pretty packages! I’m a terrible wrapper (messy edges, lots of refolds and too much tape) but a wide ribbon can hide lots of flaws! Plus, a cloth ribbon adds so much elegance.
These are beautiful. I suffer from Tape-itus so while mine are beautifully wrapped, I have tape on every edge except that one special spot I leave free so it can be opened. My family can always tell if I wrapped them as it includes lots of ribbon and they are required to hunt for that one corner I didn’t tape!
Wow, they are totally beautiful!! I love a pretty package!
My Mom is the gift wrapping queen, I hate opening them, they are so pretty just like these!
Katie I go wild with tape too, but I have a collection of cute tape!! :)
Here’s an etsy shop with loads of it.. makes all the tape extra fancy!

I am addicted to ribbon, so I think I’m going to browse around the gift wrap blog for awhile! Time to make more coffee! :)

I love really pretty gift wrapping—it’s seriously 1/2 the gift. It’s all in the presentation. I’m so obsessed with it, that I joke that my one guest room is my “Candy Spelling” gift wrapping room b/c I keep all of my supplies in there. I strive for wrapping neatly, so it doesn’t look like a retarded monkey did it, but I don’t always succeed. Tape is my bff. My mom was a true master at gift wrapping–she had a special knife to cut the paper because she swore it gave a straighter edge. She would also magically wrap things so that the patterns matched up, no matter the size of the package—I swear that woman possessed supernatural powers.
I can attest to Krista’s awesome wrapping ability. I used to joke about my grandmother making us unwrap gifts carefully so she could reuse the paper (I just wanted to tear into it!!), but with the last gift Krista sent me, I found myself carefully removing the paper and keeping the ribbons intact, so I could save them!! I, on the other hand need a little help, so I’m definitely going to keep an eye on that blog.
