Weekly Love List – Festival of Children at SCP
We’ve already shared our love of the best shopping destination in Southern California, the South Coast Plaza. So how does this jaw dropping shoppers paradise make us love them even more? By being a do-gooder, of course. We’re always pleased to see companies giving back to their communities. The SCP is currently hosting the annual Festival of Children during the month of September inside its expansive buildings. Headquartered around the SCP Carousel (located in Carousel Court on Level One), the Festival features more than 100 free family activities and events, including live music and dance performances, celebrity appearances and arts and crafts.
The Festival of Children Foundation is non-profit charity whose mission is to improve the lives of children by strengthening the charities that serve them. The SCP hosted Festival offers more than 80 children’s charities a free opportunity to educate the community on current projects and outreach to potential donors, volunteers, and fellow organizations. You’ll find activities to please the whole family while strolling the SCP, so grab the kids and get in some fall shopping while supporting a great cause. Some suggestions:
Saturday, September 12th, 12pm and 2pm – Two separate performances from young dancers from the McCoy Rigby Conservatory of the Arts (go Cathy! She was one of my first gymnastic heroes).
Sunday, September 13th, 12pm to 4pm – Grandparent’s Day Craft Activity. Bring the whole family to celebrate Grandparents’ Day with some arts & crafts.
Friday, September 18th and 25th, 11am – Coffee, Tea, Mommy and Me. An activity for moms and their toddlers – have some refreshments and enjoy an educational talk followed by an crafts project.

What a great post Tyna!
It’s hard to believe the Festival of Children began back in 2002! Every year it grows and the reason is because the basis of the organization a good one. Bring all charities together to collaborate and 100% of the donations go straight to the charities. How’s that for improving the lives of children. .. What a concept! I have to say that one of the greatest things to see is so many kids in one place having a great time. I can remember my first time hanging around the carousel at South Coast Plaza. I was new to the company (almost 20 years ago) and while walking around this amazing Center, I found that I would get more enjoyment just watching the kids ride on the carousel.. The faces and smiles were priceless! The way I see it, is these children are our future and we need to lead the way for them by being there for them. Check out the website..
