Raffle for the Rescues wrap up

Cats, Dogs, Celebs and Products, Oh My!
A Sunday seemed like the perfect day say Thank You to all the amazingly generous people and companies that helped make the wht Raffle for the Rescues such a success! Sorry for the delay in giving you all an update on the first we heart this philanthropic event. Even two weeks later, we’re still feeling a bit sleepy from all the RftR prep!
Of course, it was well worth all the work and the ungodly (5 a.m.) wake up time. We were thrilled to be involved with the Race for the Rescues – a 5K run/walk hosted by The Rescue Train that raises funds for homeless animals in the Los Angeles area.
Over 900 people joined in the walk/run for the biggest turn out in history! After the race, participants strolled the booths offering pet adoptions, supplies and information, an amazing Silent Auction and, of course, the wht Raffle. At the end of the day, the entire event raised over $85,000 going directly to charities helping to save abandoned animals. We were proud to chip in $3,000 to that total. Best of all, every animal that was brought to the Race from various city shelters was placed with a new home, a foster family, or a no-kill animal rescue.
The we heart this Raffle Booth was a huge success! Our 10 lovely gift baskets full of top-notch beauty, bath and kitchen products were coveted by one and all. Add in the joy of walking away with a fab gift bag for a 20-buck/five raffle ticket purchase and we made lots of new friends at the event. As the morning drew to a close, we had a large group of racers gathered around our booth as we drew the big winners for the raffle prizes. There were cheers and squeals and jumping around as the happy winners were announced. Interestingly, our entrants split the spoils with half the winners coming from online donations and half entering at the event on race day. Thanks so much to all who donated!
We’re sharing some of our favorite moments and pictures from the event, including:
• The very happy winner of Basket # 3, The Fab Four, Jackie, (top left) displays her winnings and a big smile.
• A former shelter dog, brought to the Race by his new owner for a day of fun and nicknamed “Eyeballs” by the wht crew (top middle).
• THIS is what Danielle Fishel (top right) looks like after running a 5k! Yep, that’s the adorable Topanga of Boy Meets World, who is now the very funny host of the Style Networks, The Dish (from the crew at The Soup, the show hilariously highlights reality television), checking out the wht Raffle Booth (and looking disgustingly radiant after the run). She was super sweet and enthusiastic and happily dished beauty while posing for pictures. Danielle, her family and her fluffy best friend Anna “ohhhed” and “awed” over the prizes, then generously donated to the cause while choosing a beauty centered gift bag (a smart pick)!
• That’s wht contributor Christy, with co-founder Tyna posing with a few of the prizes (bottom left) and putting some finishing touches on our booth before the Race begins. Check out part of our sweet new banner at the top of the pic!
• Here’s co-founder, Stef with star of Young and the Restless and Race for the Rescue’s co-host,Sean Kanan (bottom middle). Stef says Sean is one great actor as he plays a total bastard on Y&R, (reintroducing a character he made famous on The Bold and the Beautiful), but is a genuinely nice guy in real life. The Race for the Rescues could not have had a more enthusiastic, gracious and fun host then Sean who was full of energy and actively working to finds these pets a home.
• Another enthusiastic and excited Raffle winner, Debbie, showing off her Prize Basket #2 (bottom right), The Extravaganza, brimming with beauty must-haves as Christy ponders mugging her on the way out smiles happily for our lucky winner.
We want to give one final Thank You to all of the amazing companies that donated so generously to our Raffle. And of course a big Merci to everyone that donated to our event – you guys rock! A special we heart this Gracias to Lisa Young, The Rescue Train and all of the volunteers at the Race for the Rescues, and especially our enthusiastic, early rising wht helpers, Christy, Bronwen, Eric and Tony for pitching in on our big day!

Except for the 5a.m. wake up call that looked like total fun. I thought that was Deacon from The Bold and the Beautiful. (I remember panting after him oh so long ago, glad he is Y&R now!) I thought that was Topanga (a.k.a. Danielle Fischel). I would love to look like that after a 5K run, too. I’m glad it was a success.
As one of the raffle winners, I’d like to say thank you to wht for a great prize. My basket was filled to the brim with wonderful hair and body products. Not only did I do good by giving to the animals, I got good too! Thanks again. You girls are the best!!
Even though I could not be with you, I was there in spirit and was so glad it was such a great success for WHT and RFR’s. It looked like it was the perfect day too.. I’m sure you won’t know half of the good that will come from this day! Oh to sow a seed of goodness in a world with such need surely can reap a harvest of greatness for years to come. You all are beyond awesome! Blessings to you ten-fold!
