we learned this – 12.12.09
The random knowledge and useful tips we picked up along the way this week:
• Last Sunday, a few wht reviewers went on a mini field trip to the Bare Escentuals counter, where we all received hands on makeovers and got a look at their holiday collections (check back Tuesday for details, BE fans) at the Westfield Century City Mall. Attention: Los Angeles shoppers – this open-air mall has it all! It’s been many years since I last visited and we were thrilled to see a hustling, bustling crowd, festive lights and décor and tons of stores (Bloomies, Tiffany & Co, H&M, Charles David, The Body Shop, Fresh and so many more) we couldn’t wait to browse. If it’s been a while since you’ve visited it, I heartily recommend you check it out…
• …especially if you are a make up junkie, as you will find a West Coast location of my favorite beauty store, Blue Mercury! Stef and I first discovered this gem of a boutique at their Philadelphia location. We were thrilled to find the Los Angeles outpost was just what we’ve come to expect at Blue Mercury; a bright, beautifully lit store (as seen in the above photos), a friendly, (but never pushy) and knowledgeable staff and row upon row of our very favorite names in the beauty business; Molton Brown, Fresh, NARS, Jurlique, Bobbi Brown, Trish McEvoy, L’Artisan Parfumeur and many more. Thanks to the makeup goddess for deeming my city worthy of this beauty nirvana!
• And the gods continued to smile upon me during a trip to the grocery store where I opened the veggie frozen food section to discover…Morning Star Farms Griller Chick’n Patties! I swear my heart almost skipped a beat when first seeing these breadless faux chicken patties. I’d say close to 75% of my diet is some form of a MSF Griller or Chick’n patty, so to combine these two together? It’s a dream come true! I’ve got a couple of ideas for ways I can Sandra Lee these veggie patties into yummy meals for future Green Monday posts – stay tuned.
• Favorite Stocking Stuffer: The Digital Day Counters I discovered at the always enlightening shelterrific. Never again will you play the “Can I eat this or will I regret it?” game with your leftovers. This battery-operated timer can track days and hours up to 99 days. Take charge of the half empty pasta jars in your fridge or use it to keep track of plant watering days or the weekly trash pick up. Cheap, simple and ever so useful – why didn’t someone think of these before?

I’m a little addicted to anything Morning Star, so thanks for the heads-up!!!
You’re welcome Lindsay! Don’t you just love MS? I would live on pizza and pasta without them.
And, one more time, if you love beauty, check out the Blue Mercury site and get to a store if you can (they have a list of locations on their site). You will love it!
