kids giftsSo, you need to buy a gift for a child, but have no clue what they would like? This is a dilemma that I experience quite often, but even more so during the holidays when the options are overwhelming. I have two kids of my own and can shop for them all day long, but once I have to buy something for someone else’s child my mind draws a blank. Do other parents have the same problem?

We’re here to help! Here’s a fool proof gift guide for everyone, from puzzled parents to clueless aunts and uncles to shop for the good boys and girls in your life. Don’t stress, this list is filled with items that are not hard to find or sold out in every store around.

Gifts for boys or girls

Ages 3-7
Piggy Story Art-To-Go Roll ($14) bottom left
What young child doesn’t love to color? These adorable art rolls are perfect for an instant art kit where ever you go. They come with 14 little pockets to hold your child’s favorite crayons, scissors, or mini pencils. Best of all, when your little artist is done coloring, just roll these up and throw them in your purse or bag. Made from the most adorable retro fabrics, you are sure to find one that is perfect for any little boy or girl.

Ages 3 and up
Magna-Tiles (starts at $49)
I love it when a toy can be fun, but also educational. These magnetic building tiles are sure to entertain any boy or girl and teach them a few math concepts along the way (patterning, shape recognition, and 3-D concepts just to name a few). Children can create the most amazing 3-D towers with these unique magnetic shapes. I first bought a small set of these for my daughter’s birthday and found that my son enjoyed them just as much as she did. There will be an additional set of 100 sitting under our Christmas tree this year. These are the perfect gift for the budding architect in your life!

ages 10-15
Shanti Generation’s Yoga Skills for Youth Peacemakers ($17) bottom right
Developed with teens in mind, this yoga disk would be a great gift for any budding teenage girl or boy in your life. The yoga techniques on this disc help them develop physical, mental, and social skills. This disc contains Music by 311 bassist Aaron Wills and is led by a group of teens and instructor Abbie Wills. Shanti Generation makes yoga cool for kids!

Gifts for girls

1959 Original Barbie Doll ($35)
Oh Barbie, how I love thee! Sure there are tons of hip new Barbie Dolls out there, but what little girl wouldn’t love this hip retro original Barbie from 1959? Seriously, look how stylish her black dress is! I’m getting this for my little Barbie lover this year and I really can’t wait to play along too!

ages 5 and up
Bottle Cap Necklace ($10) top left
Bottle cap necklaces are all the rage with the Elementary age girls. At $10 each these are a great bargain. I promise you will win the hip gift award is you give a young girl one of these!

Gifts for Boys

ages 2-6
Super Hero Cape ($20) top right
How adorable and super cool are these capes? At only $20 each, you can’t go wrong getting one of these for the little super hero in your life. Choose from Batman, Superman, or a personalized one with your child’s initial.

ages 6 and up
Peace Keeper Marshmallow Shooter $28
When I found this Peace Keeper Marshmallow Shooter I knew this would be a huge hit with all the boys in my life. This gun shoots real marshmallows which don’t hurt when you aim them at your little sister or Mom. I promise you won’t find a young (or old) boy that doesn’t think this is just about the coolest gift on the planet.

  2. And I would love the vintage Barbie! Great list Tiff – thank you – it’s always a struggle for me with my nieces and nephew!!

  3. Such a great gift guide! Krista my sister in law got my brother one of those marshmallow shooters! It was his top gift :)

  4. Shanti Generation is a great gift for the young ones. My niece lit up when she saw what I had gotten the DVD for her. Children are our future, giving them the gift to give light in our ever changing world is one that our children and our children’s children will be forever grateful. Thank You Shanti Generation!
