Etsy 4 for Friday – hearts

January 28, 2010 | By: stef

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to bring you some Etsy picks that are close to our heart! Here at we heart this, is it any surprise that we’re a bit heart-obsessed? But it’s not just us, artists adore this simple little squiggle and use it often. Here’s four of my favorite interpretations of the amore symbol (clockwise from top left)

• Baking is an art too! Look at a masterfully decorated cupcake and try to tell me otherwise. Wouldn’t it be cute to show love to the baker in your life with these heart measuring spoons? Play your cards right and they may make you something sweet with them. ($42)

• I love this Sweet Heart Necklace. So simple and elegant, it looks way more expensive than it’s selling price. The hammered texture of the heart gives it a real artisan’s feel too. ($32)

• This charming 16″ x 22″ hand screened print titled Going To See My Baby makes me feel like I’m the one bicycling through the city on the way to see my baby, filled with love and happy anticipation. ($25)

• So dark, so gothy, so fabulous! This Anatomical Heart on Opera Text is exactly that. The artist prints directly on salvaged book pages, this one being the opera “Salome” by Strauss. Sample text: “When he exhorts her to go into the wilderness and seek redemption she sings amorously of the beauty of his body.” That’s one sexy valentine! ($12)

Oh! The heart measuring spoons are precious. Even if they didn’t inspire me to bake, I’d be so happy just seeing them hanging the in kitchen.

Ahhh… the web that is Etsy. I can spend hours on there just browsing. Sometimes I feel I should block it from myself so I can focus on my blogging! ;)

Thanks for the V-day inspiration ideas though. Hope you all are well!

I would recomend buying from her too. She is really sweet. She sent me an email letting me know that she has already put in the mail and even replied back when I complimeted her art work. I always like it when someone I’m giving my money too is kind.
