Yves Saint Laurent Lip Twins – Packaging porn

You might just want to check to see who is in the room while you are reading this post. Because this edition of packaging porn is not for the faint-hearted. Alone? Good. Time to get sexy! It doesn’t get much better than this…

Behold, Yves Saint Laurent Lip Twins. What are they, besides gorgeous? It’s a lip duo housed in a lipstick-like container, but with a few important twists (twists being the key word).

See that logo medallion at the top? Here’s where the magic happens. Twist it and the mirror flips to reveal a pan of creamy, satin lipstick. One more twist reveals a sheer lipstick that compliments the satin. One more flip, and your back at the mirror.

But, how are you to apply these beautiful shades? You don’t think YSL would leave your glamorous self hanging, do you? Pull the medallion and out pops a lip brush.

The Lip Twins were pretty hard to find up until a few months ago, when our heros at BeautyTicket.com brought them back for only $17 a pop (about half of the original $32 price tag). Only 8 of the 12 shades remain, and they are going fast. My choice, #12 Raspberry Violet, is already gone. So I won’t bother talking about how divine the blue-based bright pink satin and the glimmering baby pink sheer are. But I will say, if you’re considering them, consider quickly.

This may just be the most couture looking lip product I’ve ever seen.

  1. OMG, that is so fancy/cool I can’t stand it!!! I’m on a self-imposed beauty break right now (SO much makeup and only one face, it’s a problem…) but this is tempting…

  2. YSL has the most stunning packaging! I bought my first Rouge Volupte and swear that I want to buried with it based on the packaging alone! It just makes you feel so chic! I noticed the Lip Twins on Beauty Ticket and wasn’t sure what to think. But with such a glowing review from Stef I think I am sold. Now where to get some money? hmmmm

  3. I have to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of lip brushes. I have them and they sit untouched in my brush collection. But the packaging is just so beautiful with these, that it’s worth the hassle of having to use a brush. Plus, the formula is really nice. Really creamy and long wearing.

Honestly, I just get excited to pull it out my purse! I’m simple like that.

  4. That’s one fancy looking lip set by YSL! I can see you now Stef! Whipping out your Twins.. We have YSL at South Coast Plaza. It’s a gorgeous boutique at that. I bet they have these little numbers there.. I may have to go in and see!

  5. Stef-I hate lip brushes too. Not sure why. Maybe it is laziness. I could make the exception for one of these.

  6. Oooohhh, this is so pretty and elegant. What a nice upgrade on the old lip gloss tube. Fab pictures Miss Stef!

I kind of like lip brushes – especially for darker shades – they make me pay attention to my lips when putting on gloss, instead of just mindlessly swiping.

  7. #3 Pink Beige has my name written all over it! Yet another BeautyTicket.com order coming up…
By the way, “Whipping out your Twins”– hilarious, irene!

  8. Holy cow that is some FANCY packaging! I think I would be feel like I had to put this on in secret. Like, do some quick touch-ups under my desk and then pop back up like I just ate a chocolate cake in secret. You know what I’m saying? Secret indulgence…

  9. I hear you about lip brushes being a bit of a bother but when I use one I’m thrilled with the results! Sounds like YSL has make it easy to make up our lips! Yay!

  10. The funny thing is that I kind of have to use a brush with my YSL Rouge Volupte as it is just too messy otherwise. But beyond that I am hard pressed to use a brush. I way prefer a sponge applicator in a lip gloss.

  11. OOOOOH…AHHHHHH…that is some hard core packaging porn!!! Should I even be allowed to see this??? :)
Alas, I am definitely too lazy for a lip brush. I can probably count on both hands the number of times I’ve used a lip brush in my entire life.

  12. This product is a thing of true beauty. YSL knocked this one way out of the park!

  13. I love lip color with fancy packaging. I always choose the lipsticks that go in my evening bag for a night out according to how fancy their packaging is; color is almost always secondary. This one is totally cool–it reminds me of a poison vial from Elizabethan days.

  14. Holy Loveliness Batman! Wow.. I don’t mind the lip brush..love the little mirror and the gold packaging..it’s like Willy Wonka Lip Container.. and the price at Beauty Ticket.. Ahhhh no self control.. gotta get one. the #4 is calling my name!

  15. Beautiful package. I’m not a fan either of the lip brush but this is so sexy and chic it might be worth the hassle. $17 isn’t a bad price either.

  16. Oh I LOVE this! Thanks Stef for the link. Going to check these out right now.

  17. Man, our SCP- YSL boutique doesn’t carry makeup- bummer! I wanted to see this in real life! Maybe Saks or Nordstroms carries it?
I need to see the twins Stef!

  18. Miss Irene, You might be hard pressed to find these in person. I think YSL has discontinued them, which is why BeautyTicket has them…

And you know, the lip brush is really growing on me! It takes maybe 1 minute longer to apply. Seriously, am I that busy/lazy? Maybe, but I shouldn’t be!

  19. Stef, Looks like I’ll have to see YOURS! It’s funny how when you start to use the lip brush, after some use it seems only the right way to apply it! I like to use one too..

  20. So this is how it works! Awesome! I’d love to see more cool packaging like this!
