Belly Buttons and Babies – time to share, babies!

September 9, 2010 | By: Stef

Ok babies, why do you get all the fun? Soft and cuddly blankies, delicious, chewy binkies, pureed food that you don’t even have to chew. Maybe I’d like something comforting too. Have you ever thought of that, babies? Of course you haven’t, you’re too busy looking adorable! Well, I’m going to teach you your first lesson in sharing. Belly Buttons and Babies makes a whole of slew of organic products not only for expectant mothers and babies, but a few choice items that can be used by both. And because the line is developed by a Certified Aromatherapist, you know we’ll both be smelling sweet!

We heart this had the joy of testing a few items from their line of lotions and creams. For both of us (babies, get those feet out of your mouth and listen up!) there is the Calming Massage Lotion ($17.65). There’s nothing more relaxing than lavender, right? It will destress both of us and lull us into a restful sleep. But the beauty of this formula is that it appeals to people (like me) who like the “idea” of lavender, but not the herby, medicinal scent. The mixture of lavender essential oil, with added calendula, that Belly Buttons and Babies has come up with is a more floral lavender scent than what you’d traditional think of. The result? Very soft and pretty. And indeed, relaxing!

For the adults only, (babies-go back to sleep!) there is a Pink Grapefruit Body lotion ($18.40) that can only be described as clean, bright and sparkling. The moisturizing properties leave your skin with the absolute sheen of healthy, hydrated skin. And apparently, grapefruit can also help ease the queasy feeling that often comes with morning sickness, so it’s perfect if your pregnant.

And whether you’re carrying a little bundle of joy of your own, or just on your feet all day, look to the Triple Mint Foot and Leg Cream ($20.55) for a bit of soothing relief. Packed with nourishing butters and oils, it cools and rejuvenates tired feet and legs. But make sure you’re mint lover, this packs a minty wallop!

Testers, will you be sharing your Belly Buttons and Babies lotions and creams with anyone in your life, babies or otherwise?

  1. All you had to say was lavender, and I am there! I not only love the scent…but like @stef love the ‘idea’ of it’s relaxing properties.
This line sounds wonderful for babies and moms!

  2. I have often been seen stalking the kids and babies sections of stores. They have some of the best books and toys. And they absolutely have some of the best lotions around! I adore the scent of baby lotions and shampoos. I can’t wait to give “belly buttons and babies” a try!

  3. Excellent post @stef! Ever since my sister had her first kid I was suddenly exposed to a whole section of stores I had never gone down before. The baby section has a nice variety of products that aren’t harsh and boast natural ingredients. Belly Buttons and Babies sounds like a really great line. My sis will be excited to hear about this line.

  4. I love lavender in every form, medicinal and herbal as well as vanilla-ish and synthetic, so I think I need the Calming Massage Lotion. Just think, while you’re relaxing baby back into sleep, you’re getting your own relaxing hit of aromatherapy at the same time. Double duty!

  5. So true, babies have some of the best products! I love using baby/kid formulated cleansers and hair detanglers. Always super gentle formulas with low key scents.

The Belly Buttons and Babies line takes it a setp futher with products designed for both babies and adults in mind – smart. I didn’t test a BB&B product, but I did smell the Triple Mint Foot and Leg Cream – I love cooling, minty creams. And this one was nice – minty with just a hint of sweetness.

  6. I got to try the Pink Grapefruit lotion. And I’d add “fresh” to @stef‘s description of clean and bright. It smells like a fresh squeezed grapefruit, with a hint of floral. Very pretty, very summery. The lotion itself moisturized nicely, absorbing quickly, but not too quickly.

I’ve got to admit, I’m not as staunch about using organic products as I know I should be. But if I had a baby, I would absolutely only use organic on him or her. I think this would be a great choice!

A solid 4 stars from me.

  7. Excellent post @stef! Pink Grapefruit sounds insane to me! I love that refreshing scent! @tyna is right, babies have some of the best products! I’m always dipping in my neice and nephews “stuff”. I love a company that thinks of the importance of what we put on our babies bodies. I’ll have to look for this for them!

  8. The Calming Massage Lotion sounds like something I’d like. Any kind of lavender makes me happy and relaxed!

  9. The Triple MInt Foot and Leg Cream that I received is fantastic. But why stop at your feet and legs with this rich cream? Though in a bottle it’s far thicker than a lotion, and with its organic almond and coconut oils (as well as my fave, shea butter) you know it’s going to be rich before it ever hits your skin. The scent says “Triple Mint” but there’s a treat awaiting when all that mint (spearmint smells dominant) is tempered with a little bit of lavender. These all work together to make a perfect calming, before-bed treatment. And no, I did not stop with my legs and feet…elbows, shoulders, arms and trunk all got an introduction to this treat. 5 stars

  10. I received the lavender chamomile massage lotion and it is absolute heaven. I know it is for babies and children but I would use this massage lotion for the rest of my days.

I usually don’t love a baby powder smell of any kind but this lotion has just a tiny hint of baby powder scent layered in with the lavender and chamomile…it is nothing short of divine. Sometimes lavender can come on too strong but Belly Buttons and Babies has the mix just right in this bottle.

A massage lotion can also feel heavy at times and this one just melted right into my skin so that I felt moisturized and smooth all over. There is no residue and I could put my clothes on right after using it. I love the light scent that is left on my skin – not to heavy. And it is organic!
