we heart this – all this week at Birchbox!

Starting today, Tyna and I are writing a week of guest posts at the fabulous Birchbox blog. Yes, that Birchbox! And if you somehow don’t know what I mean, allow me to introduce you to your next obsession…

For only $10 per month, Birchbox delivers to its members a box of 4 or 5 beauty samples. I know, you’ve heard of companies like this before right? Maybe you’ve even tried a few. But when your box arrived, you were disappointed with the mish mash of brands that you’ve never heard of. Not the case with Birchbox. They send you the brands you actually want to try . But don’t take my word for it, check out the list of brand partners. NARS, Deborah Lippmann, Kiehl’s, Dr. Dennis Gross – see?

Perhaps another bone of contention with previous sample services you may tried, the tiny size of the sample. But hooray, with Birchbox there is nary a single use packet in sight! These are deluxe size samples that allow you a few uses to help you decide if it’s worth the purchase.

Add to this a shop that sells the full size products that you’ve tried, a $10 credit for every $100 you spend at said shop, and personal profile page that assures hand select items (i.e. fine, straight haired girls will never get a product for thick curls) and tell me this is not the most genius service EVER!

Further proving their smarty pants-ness and getting back to my original point, they’ve asked we heart this to do a week of guest posts on their blog. We’ve got some great posts planned; tips for fighting adult acne, how to wear glitter and not look like a ‘tween, and much more. So, be sure to stop by and say hi!

Well, I’m intrigued. I wonder just how much you can control which types of samples they send you. I would be less interested in, say, hair care, & more in moisturizers, etc. I’m already receiving an unwanted monthly gift, aren’t we all? This does sound funner than that, however, lol!

While I love Birchbox & look forward to receiving that pink box in the mail every month, I must say that the comment “personal profile page that assures hand select items (i.e. fine, straight haired girls will never get a product for thick curls)” is untrue. Nothing is personalized, everyone gets the same stuff. In fact, because some months’ contents are hit or miss, I have acquired quite an impressive collection of deluxe-sized samples for guests to try.

Sorry to hear that the profile page isn’t all the you hoped Jacquelyn. Birchbox says that they do tailor boxes based on the profile, but also based on how long someone has been a member. So, maybe as time goes on you’ll see more personalized items? But glad you still like the box. And I’m sure your guests are happy to help you with the samples!
