There’s a huge Real Housewives fan in my house. Though I do watch the show, it’s not me – it’s my British husband (that’s right Babe, I’m outing you). He’s watched just about every incarnation of the series, but has declared Beverly Hills the best season. His favorite housewife? Taylor Armstrong, who he calls “the nice one.” Imagine his joy when Taylor recently became Creative Director at BeautyTicket.com (where I work freelance) and I had the chance to interview her (even after I told him that no – he couldn’t come). So, in honor of my Hub, grab a cup of tea and get to know Taylor a bit better!
we heart this: I have to say, you’ve impressed me all season with the calm and respectful way you handle yourself in some crazy situations! We’ve got a few burning RHOBH questions, but first we want to get to know a little bit about you.
Taylor: Nice to meet you and thank you for your kind words!
wht: We are very impressed with your philanthropic efforts, it always nice to see someone give back. Being a beauty-obsessed blog, we’re especially interested in Four Truffles. Can you tell us about the line and company?
Taylor: Four Truffles is a woman-owned, women-managed skin care line designed to serve as a circle of goodness and empowerment for women and children around the world. We source our organic 4T PDN Complex™ ingredients from female-operated cooperatives in Morocco and West Africa and then donate 10 percent of sales profits directly to women and children’s charities to create a circle of giving. The line features a Body Wash, Body Smoother Scrub and a Body Butter, and is available in four fragrances – Lime Basil, Earth Apple, Bulgarian Lavender and Tangerine Lavender. (Want to give it a try? wht: Which brings us to BeautyTicket. You seem like a perfect fit. Do you consider yourself to be beauty-product obsessed?
Taylor: I do love beauty products. Experimenting with cosmetics is a fun way to change up your look in an instant. And, the level of quality ingredients available in skin care today can really make a difference in fine lines and texture. (Don’t we know it! ~wht) I am very proud to be a part of BeautyTicket.com; we have so many exciting things ahead for our VIPs. Providing premium beauty products at budget-savvy prices allows everyone to enhance their look, experiment with latest styles and afford the best brands.
wht: What are your favorite brands?
Taylor: Smashbox, YSL, Davi Skin Care
wht: What is the one item that once you tried it you thought, “I will never be without this again”?
Taylor: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
wht: And how about rituals? Do you have any nightly routines, or tips/secrets for great skin and hair?
Taylor: I use night cream and drink a large glass of water at bedtime so I wake up moisturized and hydrated.
Ok, we can’t stand it any longer, a few Real Housewives questions (and by the way, we’ve heard through the gossip grapevine that they’ve started to tape season 2!)
wht: How did The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills come to be? Did you know the other housewives before you started taping?
Taylor: We were all intertwined through friends in Beverly Hills. Some of us knew one another directly and others had friends in common.
wht: What’s the nicest or funniest fan encounter you’ve had?
Taylor: It always makes me smile when I have fans of the show say hello to me and share with me how we are their “guilty pleasure.” Men usually tell me they only see bits and pieces as their wives are really the ones watching but then they begin to quote lines or describe detailed scenes from different episodes, pretty funny. I think it’s great that your husband admits he loves the show. We are lucky to have such a following!
wht: I’ve noticed you have received a certain amount of static from fans for confronting Kim at your birthday party during the final episode. Personally, I saw nothing wrong with what you did. You were trying to deal with a situation before it got any worse. In hindsight, do wish you would have said/done anything differently? (Although, it seemed like things would have reached the boiling point that night no matter what!)
Taylor: I do regret my conflict with Kim. I thought I would clear the air going forward, I was wrong. If I had it to do over again, I would let it go because that is what I thought was the right thing to do in my heart. I let other people influence my actions and that was a poor choice, I feel very badly about it.
wht: Are those arguments as uncomfortable as they look? Or does a certain amount of editing go into them to make them worse than they actually are?
Taylor: Arguing, for me, is always uncomfortable but, it’s a part of life at times. We all agreed to be as real as possible in doing the show; the good the bad and the “I wish I would not have said that” moments are all on tape.
Finally, no wht interview is complete without a reach in our potluck question vault…
