Anna Sui’s charming collection has us trolling Etsy for 40’s finds

So far I think my favorite collection at NYFW was Anna Sui’s ’40s-inspired Spring 2012 collection. Filled with Parisian flair, feminine shapes and flirty details this line had me swooning. Sui topped it off with a very Grey Gardens turban to match every outfit. Le sigh.

So this week I’m turning to Etsy for 4 finds to help me (and you) steal the look of one of Fashion Week’s greatest collections:

You can never go wrong with black cat eye sunglasses. I found this incredible vintage pair from the 1950s that should have you runway ready for a lifetime. Made in Italy and in mint condition, these classic glasses will serve you well year after year. $85

I think both Anna Sui and Little Edie would approve of this Black Velvet Turban. Throw on this head topper to add some mystique to any outfit, keep warm on chilly days or to cover a bad hair day. And how cute would a broach look on the side? Handmade in black, stretchy velvet – one size fits all. $37

I love the crafty feel and boldness of the necklace on Sui’s model ~ capture the same feeling with this Black Dominoes Necklace with matching earrings. Handcrafted with miniature black dominoes, this necklace includes various vintage pieces (in lieu of Sui’s star) including an old watchmaker’s vial, a brass skeleton key and colorful stones. $160

And how amazing is this 1940s Black Paisley Herringbone Jacket? It has the same flirty feel and impeccable proportions of Sui’s jacket (strong shoulders, nipped waist) with tons of bonus vintage details (covered buttons, fitted construction, fully lined, notched V jewel neckline). This three season jacket is another classic piece that will provide years of stylish wear. $47

we heartsters – are you shopping Etsy, eBay and thrift stores for the looks you see at NYFW?

  1. Well done @tyna – I love “looks for less” posts and am stoked we have one right here on wht!

Ok, those lips at Anna Sui? LOVE! And I’m with you. What a fun show. The upscale rockabilly vibe is fab.

That Etsy jacket is all kinds of hotness. And a steal at $47 bucks.

  2. Yeah, I’m so liking those lips too..I’d like to have them seal my envelopes with a kiss! @tyna, you nailed all the above perfectly! I bet you’re getting super excited to be in NYC yourself!

  3. I love the sunglasses and both of the jackets. I am all about great jacket with neutral colors.

  4. A big thanks for featuring my necklace/earring set. The first set utilized actual bone carved dominoes that a sailor probably carved while out at sea. The set sold so quickly I decide to scour and find more mini dominoes. These I landed from France! On a personal note, I was in NY for Fashion Week in February and was lucky enough to see Anna Sui’s show! A nice photographer walked me right into the tent with him and took me in to see her runway collection that day!!! Funny coincidence!

I love the jacket you found! Versatile piece!

    1. Your necklace and earrings set is really a work of art, I love it! I’m not sure I could pull it off in public (I’m working on wearing bolder jewelry, it takes practice!) but I would love to have a set like this just to look at it. Great work, and great finds as always @Tyna !

  5. My bro got me a slightly less fab (it’s not velvet) black turban for my 40th birthday a couple of years ago. It was part of a Sunset Boulevard theme (since I love the movie so much) and I alwayd imagine when and where I may wear it!
