MAC’s latest Pro Longwear Eye Shadows really go the distance!

photos: we heart this

I got up before dawn today, did my makeup and headed to work. It’s now 4:00 p.m. and I’m getting ready to face my long drive home. My eyes might feel a bit tired, but my eyeshadow looks as fresh as when I put it on this morning. I’ve spent my day in MAC’s Pro Longwear universe, a place where makeup defies the laws of nature and maintains its color even when I start to fade.

MAC Pro Longwear in Pink Frontier

MAC’s Styledriven lip collection had me in such a frenzy, I needed to catch my breath before continuing on to the eye portion of the launch. Styledriven includes the longest wearing eye shadows MAC has ever created.

MAC Pro Longwear in Plush

Pro Longwear shadows are bigger and better in every way. The pans are larger than those of regular MAC single shadows, so even though they’re a little more expensive, they contain much more product.

MAC Pro Longwear in Tease with Ease

And what a product it is! The powder formula has a super silky, creamy texture and blends easily. It has major color payoff, and no matter how much you build the color, it appears smooth. And did I mention that the color stays true for at least eight hours – even worn without a base?

MAC Pro Longwear in Legendary Black

We received six of the sixteen new Pro Longwear Eye Shadows from the Styledriven collection, including:
One to Watch – soft light apricot tan
Lie Low – a medium brown sugar hue with a touch of red
Plush – a bright, but totally wearable grape
Tease with Ease – another bold but wearable hue, this time a vivid fuchsia pink
Legendary Black – an intense dark brown grey with bronze shimmer
(taupe fans – yes, get it ~Stef)
Pink Frontier – a soft rosy pink with gold undertones

MAC Pro Longwear in One to Watch

I tried and and fell in love with two colors from the Styledriven line. One to Watch (described as a light brown satin) stole my heart immediately. Satin is the perfect description for its texture, which is so velvety and even. For warmer-toned girls, this satin terracotta is a beautiful neutral for daytime. Combined with Lie Low (a frosted golden brown), it becomes a dramatic earth-toned eye that works for night, too.

Lie Low doubles beautifully as a liner, its frosted texture adding just the right amount of shimmer to the eye. I found so many options just by combining these two colors, I can’t wait to add a few more Pro Longwear colors to my fall palette.

MAC Pro Longwear in Lie Low

And no need to rush this time, because for once this isn’t a limited edition launch. The entire Pro Longwear line has been added to MAC’s permanent collection, so you have time to ponder the possibilities.

Left to right: Legendary Black, Pink frontier, Lie Low, Plush, One to Watch, Pink Frontier

And between the sixteen new Styledriven colors, there are many, many possibilities. On second thought, I think I’ll be rushing to the MAC counter anyway!

  1. I am a big fan of MAC shodows and these seem like the bonus size versions! Larger pans coupled with a long wearing formula! wow!
I am a neutral girl and drawn to Pink Frontier, but I must go check out the other colors! Thanks, Melissa!

  2. I love MAC!!! My favorite stuff though is the foundation – it covers a lot but you face is not like a doll’s one. And now I will see the shadows:)

  3. Lordy, I think I’d wear every single one of these colors that WHT was given. Surprisingly, I’m mostly drawn to Plush and Tease with Ease; I think I have so many neutral colors at this point that my brain isn’t letting me get any more. But One to Watch and Pink Frontier…they’re so pretty!

Mark Your Mark and Hot Paprika sound great too…Looks like I’m going to have to head to the MAC counter and play.

  4. Legendary Black and Pink Frontier are going to be the next additions to my collection. The Pro Longwear shadows are so nice, and I love the larger size of the pans!

  5. The Styledriven collection is HUGE, and I love each and every piece of it that I’ve seen. Pink Frontier and Plush are my favorites out of the colors that WHT received, but I also really love Weathered. Stellar collection as always MAC!

  6. I love MAC!! It is not necessary to bring them with you all day long, because there so long-lasting!! Amazing quality:)

  7. I usually hate pink eyeshadow but Pink Frontier looks beautiful!! This line looks like another winner!

  8. I love Mac eye shadows. They last all day and you don’t have to worry about touch ups.

  9. I was at the MAC counter today getting my HG Blot powder, and I did look at Legendary Black. It looked nice but I didn’t have much time to just browse.

  10. I took a long break from MAC, as I usually do, but I’m back and I think I’ll be picking up at least 3 of these babies: legendary black, one to watch and lie low…

  11. I got Tease with Ease and it’s a beautiful fuchsia. I know red tones can be intimidating near the eye area as no one wants to have too much red around their eyes. But Tease is gorgeous blended with purple hues for a colorful smokey eye. These are so easy to blend and I love the bigger size!
