The Lipstick League – week of 1.7.12

mabelPJs The Lipstick League – week of 1.7.12

Mabel, my deaf Boston Terrier, can you stand her cuteness? She’s been shivering a lot lately, so we ordered her some Naked Dog Pjs from Etsy. I’m super impressed with them; cuddly fleece in lots of different prints and the shop owner takes six measurements to make sure they fit perfectly. Oh Mabel – this dog is pure love, I’ll tell you what…

Congratulations to our very own Brittany of Clumps of Mascara who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this week! She’s already following in her mama’s fabulous footsteps (check out the adorable cosmetic case that was awaiting her arrival!).

Mabel is such a cutie in those pajamas! I love her!

it’s hard for me to answer this week’s question because I have a lot of both hits AND misses with almost every brand I use. I think the one who has the most hits would have to be Tarte. I think their products are consistent, all natural, free of animal testing, and their colors deliver really well, especially in their lip and cheek products.

My favorite low end/drugstore brand so far would have to be Maybelline. There are just so many things they put out that I keep falling hard for.

Obviously I’m going to say Bare Minerals/Bare Escentuals is the line that rarely (if ever) fails me. Now that they’ve come out with the READY line of pressed Sea Mineral foundations, eyeshadows, etc I have absoultely nothing but raves for the company. Great product, huge color selections and reasonable prices.
Le Metier de Beaute is constantly impressing me with everything EXCEPT their prices. Sigh. The stuff is definitely worth it, though.

I love Mabel’s face in this picture. My dogs would just give me a wicked bitch face if I put pj’s on them. They don’t like fun.

As for a brand that never disappoints, that would probably be Bobbi Brown for me. Their colors are so universally flattering, it’s hard for me to find a misstep. Love them!

I have to admit that I did a double-take; Mabel’s pajamas fit her so well that I thought she was a very rare breed (is my face red)! She is a sweetheart. In terms of drugstore brands, Neutrogena has never let me down, from using their soap to prevent breakouts in my teens to–gulp!–indulging in Rapid Wrinkle Repair now to prevent lines and keep my skin smooth and hydrated. Christian Dior is a pricey downfall. I think (I said I THINK) I’m glad I cannot afford everything they offer . . .
