True confession, I have yet to try a makeup box subscription, including any from the fabulous leaders in the field; Birchbox. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s an amazing way to try new products. But as a beauty blogger, I’m always trying new products. Usually more than I know what to do with…
But when Birchbox announced they were releasing a new edition, a collection of home and entertaining essentials aptly named Birchbox Home, I knew I was going to flip for it. And I was right, I pretty much freaked when it arrived.
Filled with cute and clever home goods, and brimming with ideas for the perfect soiree (planning tips, menu ideas, even a playlist) it’s like party perfection in a box. And only $58 for $140 worth of loot!
Here’s the thing, this box sold out FAST. Like, it was gone before it even arrived for me to review. But rumor has it that there’s another one coming soon, so sign up now to be one of the first to know when the next edition is released. Because believe me, you want it.
The good news? Many of the products in the box are still available individually on Birchbox. So, grab a hand-crafted cocktail and check out the fabulosity of Birchbox Home.
Birchbox Recipe Cards ($10 for 12 cards) are a stylish way to jot down whatever stand-by you prepare for your guests. So much better than a photocopy! Or keep them for yourself, we won’t tell.
When is the last time you bought a new spatula, especially one as adorable as this? The Core Bamboo Spatula Set ($15) includes three bamboo and silicone spatulas (classic, classic spreader and mini spreader) and comes in four different color combinations inspired by some of the fashion capitals of the world. That’s Paris shown above.
One of my favorite items in the box is the Quirky Stem Citrus Spritzer ($4.99). Serrated teeth sink into citrus fruit, siphoning juice directly out through a spray nozzle. I was convinced it wouldn’t work but was amazed by the results. I’ve been spritzing non-stop since it arrived; a spray of lime in my beer, fresh lemon across my salads. It’s genius!
If dried rosemary and truffle salt can’t make your meal taste better, there’s no hope. Dean and Deluca Rosemary ($15 for four Italian Spices) and Sabatino & Co. Roma Truffle & Sicilian Salt ($20.50) are like the wonder twins of cooking. And I don’t know what’s cuter, the little tin or the airtight glass jar.
And let’s just get this out of the way, if you don’t have truffle salt in your life, I’m sorry – your life is not complete.
(Bonus points if you recognize by the placecards who I invited to my imaginary dream dinner party.)
I once accidentally let a candle burn overnight. Ever since, my husband blows out all candles instantly (complete with some sort of “burning the house down” comment). So reed diffusers have become a necessity for me. Antica Farmacista Home Ambiance Fragrance ($25 for 100 ml) is inspired by antique apothecary bottles so they look as good as they smell. Prosecco (that’s like champagne, ya’ll) smells fresh, fruity and bubbly, and delicately scents the whole room.
The Birchbox Home edition also had printed cards from Paperless Post, which is an oxymoron! But they included a promo code so you could design your own online stationery online, hence the “Paperless”.
Also tucked inside were these JONATHAN ADLER Playing Cards ($10) for the most stylish game of Go Fish you could have!
But the most fun component of the box came rolled up in this bright green paper…
It’s a curated DIY craft set from the amazing P.S.- I made this! In addition to pretty twine and tape, it had four napkins from the MYdrap Cotton Luncheon Napkin Roll ($28 for 25) and the tools to doll them up…
A bit of paint and an applicator…
Some metallic Sharpies…
And you have something much cuter than paper towels for your next party! Made from 100 percent biodegradable cotton, the napkins can be washed and reused up to six times. Plus the added joy of being able to say “I made those!”
So, how about it we heartsters – will you be signing up from the next Birchbox Home?
Stef is many things. Amongst them: co-editor of we heart this, graphic designer, Philly girl in the California desert, borderline hoarder and a hardcore beauty junkie.
