Beautiful Ellis Faas products held together by their signature clips, as seen at The Makeup Show Los Angeles.

Question of the Week: Describe your everyday, go-to makeup look.

Answer: The only thing that doesn’t change on a daily basis, is that I use Kiehl’s Calendula toner every morning. Past that, it’s never the same! But I don’t leave the house without powder, mascara and lipgloss at the bare minimum.

@stef – I switch around a lot also. But, I have been using Vivite skin care (by Allergan, the makers of Latisse) for about three months and I love it! IT cosmetics Bye bye under eye is another key staple to erase imperfections.

Also — I am always wearing something with SPF to protect myself from the sun.

For school? High school students don’t miss a thing, as in “Mrs. D., do you know you are wearing two different shoes?” (So what? Same shoe style, just slightly different shades. Be glad I made it here on time!) Thus, I do a complete beauty routine, but I’ve gotten pretty swift about it. I always use a moisturizer and generally a separate SPF product. I follow with a great concealer (varies), Lancome’s powder or liquid foundation, blush, shadow primer, shadow, liner, mascara (after curling with Shu Uemura’s magic wand), and Divaderme’s “Brow Extender”–liquid brows in a bottle (clay and a plethora of miniscule brow fibers look so natural it’s incredible). The colors and brands change daily with my mood, except for Lancome (though I am always open to experimenting with other foundations). And perfume–always a scent. I am reprimanded if I forget to use one! (Who’s the teacher here, anyway?)

Whoops! Lipstick. My lips are never colorless or you will hear laughing in the halls. My go-to is Tangee’s “Color Changing Lipstick,” but I’m now mixing it up with OCC lip tars, YSL’s lip stain, and some other products. I plan to purchase some MAC “Veronica” products when our income tax refund comes.

@Gigi –I am intrigued by the Brow Extender…sounds really cool!

My go to look is: Nip and Fab Moisture Fix, followed by a mix of Physican’s Formula Super BB Cream and Pacifica’s Alight Mineral BB Cream, followed by a primer, followed by Clinique’s Even Better Foundation, followed by Nip and Fab’s Eye Fix (to conceal dark circles), plus Physicians Formula Conceal Rx. Holy moly, that is A LOT of face products! What can I say, I have hyperpigmentation issues.

Once that’s all in place, I do a winged cat eye liner, (I switch liners a lot and don’t really have a favorite) a natural taupe-y eyeshadow and a coat of mascara. Dab on some Revlon Photoready Cream blush and some tinted lip balm and whew–done!

@amity – I started to list out all my products too and ended up deleting it because the list was A) incredibly long B) made me sound like a drag queen! I can’t believe the amount of products that goes on my face everyday either…

I usually do Kevyn Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer to cover spots and redness, blend, then I put Stila’s Illuminating powder foundation on top to set the concealer. I’ll fill in my brows with a charcoal CG perfect blend eye pencil, swipe some BB Galaxy cream shadow on my lids and line my eyes with the charcoal pencil. I’ll then typically use a cream blush and a tinted lip balm and then I curl my lashes. If I’m not going anywhere special, I skip the mascara–as I get older, I’ve realized that when I wear mascara a lot, my lashes get pretty sparse pretty quickly, which ain’t pretty. :P

@stef and @amity–“Divaderme” was recommended to me years ago by a beauty-savvy friend when I whined that my natural brows are thinning. It is a wonderful way to fill in sparse brows or just enhance natural ones. If you have a second, please check it out at

I am so regretting my decision to pass on Ellis Faas blush at The Makeup Show. It swatched so cool and light and the color was so perfect. C’est la vie. Their arsenal is so James Bond. Or Pussy Galore. True beauty ammo.

My everyday products used every single day:
Biore Perfect Face Milk SPF 50 (it’s an Asian Biore product that I bought on ebay)
Revlon Nearly Naked or L’oreal BB cream (depending on what I’m doing that day!)
    UD Primer Potion
    Jordana Eyeliner Pen
    MAC Fluidline Gel Browcreme
    Maybelline Falsies Flared Mascara
    MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

Those are my favorite go-tos :) The eyeshadow, blush and lip are my experimental products.
