bareMinerals Kiss and Tell – swatches and review

There are certain things we are told as children. One, don’t kiss and tell. Two, don’t tell everything you know. Against the advice of my elders, I am going to break both of these rules.

The great things about this time of the year are all of new collections. I especially love value sets because they allow you to test drive some products and colors you may not have the opportunity to try otherwise. This season I am enamored with bareMinerals Kiss and Tellicon.

This collection includes five Moxie lipsticks (that are not quite full sized) for the bargain price of $29. Each Moxie is 1.5 grams, which makes them similar to a deluxe sized sample in my book. Personally, I like the smaller size because they are compact and take up less room in my purse. (I can’t remember when the last time I used an entire lipstick anyway.)

The bareMinerals Kiss and Tell set includes these five shades:

Be Bold – crimson berry
Go All Out – neon pink
Get Ready – warm rosy pink
Break Away – warm mauve
Speak Your Mind – sweet pink

Speak Your Mind, Break Away and Get Ready are pink/neutrally colored shades that go with just about everything. But, I surprised myself by reaching for Go All Out and Be Bold when I was looking for a bit more color.

All of the shades are very wearable without being sticky or drying. While the formula is long lasting and have good pigmentation with a nice satin finish. I could not detect any fragrance or strange taste that lipstick sometimes has.

Pros:
Pretty, wearable colors
Good Value
No parbens or sulfates

Con:
Limited Edition and likely to go fast.

There is nothing that perks me up more than a new fun makeup collection and the bareMinerals Kiss and Tell set certainly has done its job. If you have a lipstick lover on your list, pick up one of these holiday specials (and grab one for yourself while you are at it!).

Readers – Have you picked up anything new from Bare Minerals over the holiday season?

Holly knew I was very curious these so she let me borrow a few (I’m such a sucker for cute little mini value sets…). I’ve only tried Be Bold so far. It’s a GORGEOUS deep berry color that I think is really flattering to my NC25 skintone. The formula is really smooth and feels moisturizing. There’s something to it that’s unusual but I can’t quite put my finger on it! Be Bold will definitely stain your lips for a good while and doesn’t seem to give me much a “lipstick ring” when it wears off. The only thing I don’t love about this lipstick is that it started feathering! I’ve NEVER EVER in my entire life had a lipstick feather on me, so I’m really surprised and disappointed, because the shade is fantastic. :(

I did not experience any feathering. However, I have been on the cusp of a cold for weeks and hate nothing more than dry lips. Applying coconut oil is my preventive medicine of choice because it seems to heal and protect my lips for chapping. It also acts as a great primer.

I found all of these shades very wearable for all skin tones. It would make a great gift. I am sure who ever receives them will really like them.
