The Lipstick League – week of 2.3.14

Lipstick League Feb 2014 The Lipstick League – week of 2.3.14

Some various beauty from the last couple of weeks: (clockwise from top left)

Roasted Beets and Avocado at Craft. No Tom Colicchio sighting, but these were almost as good. Special appearance by my radiant orchid mani; MAC Herione with Deborah Lippmann Edge of Glory on top. Fun note, this combo made Beauty Junkies Unite gasp!

My garage in the rain. I drove up to it the other night and thought “That’s pretty, I should take a picture.” But decided against it thinking “it’s just a garage” and drove in (as evident by the wet tire tracks.) Something hit me and I pulled back out and shot it. Who cares if it’s just a garage? It’s ‘effen gorgeous. Lesson learned, beauty comes in all forms.

Chocolate Strawberry Jam by Stonewall Kitchen. I didn’t buy this, but I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

• My new House of Harlow 1960 ring. I feel like a superhero when I wear it. And there’s that radiant orchid mani again!

Question of the Week: Is there a makeup application technique that you’ve tried to master, but just can’t seem to conquer?

Answer: Well, I would have said contouring a few months ago, but I’ve been practicing. And I think I’m getting the hang of it! The key? A product that is shimmer free and just few shades darker than your skintone, paired with a beautiful highlighter.

Here’s what happened in The League this week…

Pink Sith – is positively blushing at the name of the NARS Blush called “Sex Fantasy”. Not that she’s a prude or anything.

Prime Beauty – has finally found her Prince Charming…kinda. He is just one of the many calorie-free limited edition treats from the Valentine’s Day Collection at LUSH! Indulge yourself and your sweetheart with no guilt! Trust me, you’ll want to stock up.

Phyrra – Phyrra share all of her favorite Complexion Perfection products. Find a new favorite foundation here!

we heart this – Mega pores? Yeah, us too. Check out the latest from the Benefit POREfessional line and it can be our little secret.

Chalkboard Nails – created a geometric nail art look using the neutral shades from the brand new OPI Brazil Collection.

Clumps of Mascara – has come across an amazing mascara. No seriously. Too Faced’s Better Than False Lashes is one of the coolest mascaras that I have ever tried.

Gouldylox Reviews – These five hairsprays will change how you handle your hair.

My Beauty Bunny – Manis, manis, manis! Jen and friends get ready for Valentine’s Day with gorgeous nail art from Plush Beauty Bar. Come look and see.

Nouveau Cheap – Do you like the idea of long-wear lip colors, but hate the moisture-sucking properties that often go along with them? These might be just the ticket (and they’re only $3.50 each)

Guest Post of the Week, as chosen by Pink Sith – A simple yet lovely blog post about beauty. Here is a beauty epiphany from Alice In Nappyland and what a $1.99 lipstick taught her.

how about you we heartsters – is there a makeup application technique that you’ve tried to master, but just can’t seem to conquer?

Ok, your ring is bananas and I love it. And, that garage pic is strangely beautiful…good eye! As for makeup application, I still am not 100% on brows–I’ve learned a lot from WHT and feel like I’ve made the general shape and shading much better, but I still think they are kind of lacking in true brow fabulousity!

Not only is that garage picture lovely, the garage itself is so neat and orderly! I’m super impressed! :-)

My downfall is a good smokey eye. I’m okay with a daytime one, but with a true nighttime, sexy smokey eye? Nah. Occasionally I get close, but then I end up messing around with it and then look like an extra from a Hole video. *sigh*

Your garage IS pretty. And so clean. I’m jealous.
As for the makeup technique that I can’t wrap my head around no matter how many tutorials I watch or tricks I’m taught? False eyelashes. Something always goes wrong. Not terribly wrong, but slightly so: off center, up to high, sticking up at the corner, trimmed too much, not trimmed enough…you get the picture.

That’s a one cool and fun looking gaaarage, garage! How about you feature your little Hawaiian dancer! Please post her swinging her stuff in the window!
Well, I am really still working on getting my Smokey Eye down too.. it’s one of those applications that I get most of the time but not always! It’s one of my favorite looks when done right!
