Let’s escort out 2016 and welcome in 2017 with a series of we heart this’ favorite time-killing game: 3 things! All this week we’ll be getting our list on. Join us, won’t you?
I’m pretty sure my body composition is primarily cheese and booze over the holidays. So needless to say, I have edibles on my mind. Allow me reminisce on some of my most delicious memories…
3 Things: The Best Things I Ate in 2016
1. Q Sushi
Not only is this my favorite meal of 2016, it’s probably my favorite meal of all time. The 20 course omakase selection at Q Sushi, artfully guided by Chef Hiroyuki Naruke, was downright otherworldly. Hands down; the best sushi I’ve ever had. I still dream of the fatty tuna…
2. Salt and Straw
A close second behind sushi in the “food that always makes me happy” category is ice cream. And no ice cream makes me more happy than Salt and Straw. Locally sourced ingredients, cleverly and boldly blended, I make sure to visit at least once a month to try their seasonal flavors. Like Halloween’s Dracula’s Blood Pudding shown above; cream and spices with pig’s blood and touch of chicken liver. (It tasted like Mexican hot cocoa and was totally delish.)
3. The Poke Shack
I’ve developed a Poke habit in 2016 and I blame it entirely on The Poke Shack. I visited their Hollywood location for the first time this year and now I’m having trouble eating anywhere else! I mean; fresh Ahi and slightly warm rice topped with avocado, watermelon radish, edamame, mango, masago and more for under 20 bucks – can you blame me?
