Today, we have a whole lot of love for the latest issue of online indie magazine VivaLaModa! We gave you the lowdown on this fine publication when we were contributors to the March 09 edition. If you are a fan of the vintage, indie and handmade moevement, then this paperless magazine is for you!
Publisher and editor, Ainhoa, has done it again with the May 2009 issue of VivaLaModa which this time spans over 100 pages of indie eye candy. We are thrilled to once again have the chance to contribute to this totally unique, indie inspired collection of clothing, jewelry, home decor and much more. As you may have noticed, we had all things Grey Gardens on our minds this spring. For our layout (pages 46 and 47) we had some fun playing set designer and stylist to create our own little slice of Grey Gardens. We scoured internet to find the best, indie finds to add a a bit of the Edie’s to your life:
Once you are done ordering your favorite GG inspired items, don’t forget to take some time to read this issue from cover to cover! Some of my favorite articles this month, include “A Cheat’s Herb Garden” (pages 75 and 76) which is a step by step guide to creating and caring for your own mini herb garden. Author and gardener, Aino, makes it sounds so easy – even for this notorious plant killer. And since you can’t put it off any longer, take a look at “Swimsuit Season” (pages 62 to 66) for a photo collection of this seasons best looks. You’ll find groupings of the hottest cuts (one-pieces and halter tops), and styles (nauticals, black & white) for summer 09. Best of all, by picking one of these indie finds you can be sure that you will be the only one wearing your suit at the next swim party or around the neighborhood pool. Finally, even those with the most basic of sewing skills should check out “Shabby to Chic: Alteration” (pages 59 to 61). It’s another fine tutorial, this one by the crafty Heather, who shows us how to turn an ordinary T-shirt into a fabulous halter top. The result is super cute with a flattering shape and I bet one of my oversized concert tee’s would make one awesome halter top!
