With Memorial Day just about a week away, my mind is drifting to picnics. But not just any picnic; the perfect picnic! Laying by a lake with my honey, our well behaved dogs frolic while we eat simple but fabulous little nibbles and share only one bottle of wine. This, of course, is nothing like our typical picnics; he burns food on the grill, our dogs bother all of our guests and everyone eats and drinks too much. But hey, this is my fantasy!
Here’s some items to help you prepare for the perfect picnic:
• Unless you’re an oil rigger, I bet you don’t use a Thermos much anymore. If you’re old (like me) wasn’t it the best part of your lunchbox? And wouldn’t this vintage Thermos be perfect to hold picnic mojitos? $10
• You know the only problem with this pricey beauty, the Patricia picnic blanket? I probably would keep it for my bed! But the fact that it folds into a compact pouch and has a water resistant backing might persuade me to bring it out of the house. $75
• Call me Yogi, ’cause I’ve got a real thing for pic-a-nic baskets. I bought one years ago that sits, unused, waiting for the imaginary picnic scenario listed above. But if I bought this collapsible market tote I could use it for picnics AND groceries! $35
• Finally, as much as I’d love to think I’d have tons of places to wear a oversize, floppy, Southern Belle kind of a straw hat, something that was a bit more modern would get way more use. I can see myself in this straw fedora for picnics and beyond. $30
