Smell Bent Halloween 2010 – the scent of a bump in the night

My love for Smell Bent, the niche perfume line with a sense of humor, has just grown by leaps and spooky bounds. Their Halloween scents have me doing the Monster Mash with happiness.

They’ve introduced four creepy and fabulous new limited editions. And when I say limited, I do mean limited. When you wake up all groggy on November 1st, still in your face paint from the night before, they will be gone. So act quick!

Shown in the above illustration, there’s LumberJack Werewolf “logger by day, were-stud by night”. Musky, woodsy lovers, this number will have you howling at that moon. A sexy winter scent for a woman, I think this would be especially irresistible on a man.

Next up, some twisted BFF’s for foody enthusiasts. Helen Carnate (get it?) has a wicked red musk base with dark chocolate, red mandarin and a splash of vetiver. Think heavily chocolate covered orange, maybe being eaten by a vampire wearing vetiver. I’m loving Lucy Fur (get it yet?), which has the same red musk base, but she’s matched with vanilla cream and a splash of patchouli. A hippie eating an ice cream cone perhaps? But since it’s Halloween, make it an evil hippie!

But my absolute favorite, the scent I am about to order is Bewitched Bothered and Bewilderness. They don’t list actual notes of this one, instead saying that it’s a “sweet, spicy brew of a bubbling cauldron set against the lush scent of the forest at night”. It’s pure wet dirt to me. And yes, wet dirt in the forest with green moss creeping over it. But also, a fair sized dash of cinnamon. It’s spicy lushness, and it’s pure heaven!

If you’re picking up any of these spooktastic scents, you might also want to check out One, in honor of their first anniversary. It fits nicely into this launch (despite being rather happy and not at all scary) with notes of Cardamom, dark vanilla, dry wood and sweet musk. But also what they call “aging paperbacks”. It’s like an old library; the wood shelves with hints of sweetness wafting through the rows. Just lovely. Ok, I changed my mind. I think this is my absolute favorite. (And good news, the sale of One has been extended! It’s still up as on 11/12/10.)

Visit Smell Bent before November 1st to scoop up at least one of these before they retreat back into the darkness from which they came! 8ml oil -$20 | 50 ml EDT spray – $45

  1. Ooo…if I wasn’t on a self-imposed smelly stuff ban (I have too much!) I’d be all over One and Helen Carnate.

AND they sell samples! Buying a sample isn’t breaking the ban, right? Maybe?

  2. Oh man…You totally stopped me from doing work for a bit (haha) to check out this site. Now I feel the need to get some of these scents! I love it when a perfume line sells lots of sizes to choose from. I’m so excited now :) thanks for sharing this with us.

  3. Amazing that they sell samples! I’m just trying to decide which one(s?) to try. I’m leaning towards Helen Carnate.

  4. I’m normally a huge advocate for samples, but seeing as these are only available for another 5 days, if you’re thinking about a purchase…do it!

Honestly, I am SO in love with these. And as shown above, I keep going back and forth on my favorites. One is warm and cozy. BB&B is fresh, spicy and earthy. Lucy Fur is total foody meets hippie. And Helen Carnate is probably the most realistic chocolate scent I’ve ever spritzed. The only one I’m not in love with is that sexy werewolf (he’s just too much of a man for me).

I may end up getting 4 of these, much to my wallet’s dismay…

  5. Oh man, I’m thinking I might get the werewolf for my boyfriend and hold on to it for an xmas gift, I just don’t know if he’d like it. I really want to get the $25 sample set. I’m going to have to check my bank account and see what I can do, these all look too good to choose from.

  6. Just to follow up… @stef you totally convinced me on One, which I ended up getting the oil for. Am still thinking about BB&B!

  7. oops another follow up. Look at me, I’m totally trolling :)

Just wanted to say that I purchased + received One and have been using it almost daily… It’s a perfect winter scent. It reminds me of sitting in a library with a fireplace while cuddled in a blanket! If that’s your cup of tea (and I can’t see why not), then you’ll love this.
