The Lipstick League – week of 10.3.11

Oh, Bond No. 9 – we love you so. We spent a glorious two days getting to know you better at the South Coast Plaza Beauty event that we were part of last weekend (and a big thanks to all of you who stopped by our table at Saks to say hi!) It’s become very hard to pick just one favorite, but really, do we have to?

Question of the Week: – Do you change your perfume with the seasons?

Answer: I definitely find myself reaching for richer scents as it gets colder.

Here’s the best of The Lipstick League this week…

Lipglossiping – is happy to embrace the new Autumnal lip shades from Clarins, maybe it’s because they remind her so much of Summer!

Nouveau Cheap – gives you a sneak peek at the EcoTools Limited Edition Holiday 2011 Beautiful Expressions Kabuki Set. Let’s just say you might want to keep this one for yourself.

Pink Sith – recommends that you get tucked into bed and snuggle up because she’s going to tell you a bedtime story about a pale Princess and a gallant Knight that saved the Princess with Le Metier de Beaute Creme Fresh Tints for cheeks and lips!

Prime Beauty – Prime Beauty found a product that combines her two true loves–wine and skincare! Caudalie Vinoperfect Perfecting Day Cream is a triple threat; moisturizer, primer and skincare treatment in one sweet multitasking package!

we heart this – We’ve fallen in love with Urban Decay Lush Lash Mascara and we want to shout it from the rooftop!

EauMG – A video review of one of Victoria’s favorite perfumes for fall, Serge Lutens Chergui.

I am careful to wear anything too strong or rich. Mainly because many of the people I call on have bad allergies. In some cases, it is even posted outside of the office to please not enter if you are wearing perfume!

Definitely not. I don’t wear perfume due to my high allergic reactions to them. My sense of smell, sight and hearing are the most sensitive. I smell like my shampoo and conditioner and that’s constant, that’s it!

Heck, I change scents by the day! Hahah. But no, I do change my scents by the season, but generally and not as a rule. Strangely enough I tend to reach for the “sparkly” winter scents during the summer- they smell almost cooling!

Yeah @stef you make a good point.. I kinda find myself doing the same as you. I love scents of so many kinds.. I have a few all time favorites – like various Gardenias and am always looking for new ones to check out.. sometimes the older ones can sometimes just wow me!

Bond has a bundle of dandies to sniff!! I highly recommend checking them all out.. I have been told that I smell like a you know what, after I’ve been out sampling! Granted it was always said to my by a real fuddy-dud but you could smell me coming!

  5. I don’t change scents with the season, I just pick out 2 new ones I like every Christmas and my husband gets them for me for my present. Its kind of our tradition every year. I love it.

I do change scents with the seasons because Fall and Winter are a little too rich for the lighter, fruitier fragrances I tend to favor. As soon as you can feel a chill in the air, I bust out the Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison. I had a friend who wore it years ago and I really liked it and she was a little bit territorial about it, so once I moved far away and no longer interacted with said friend, I tried this in rebellion. And it smells completely different on me (most fragrances change a little due to the wearer’s body chemistry). On her it smelled a little bit like potpourri. On me, it smells like a warm root beer float. My husband loves root beer floats. So, it’s been my signature cool weather scent for several years now.
