The new Marc Anthony Bye Bye Frizz hair care collection review

I must confess that as summer approaches and the temperature begins to rise, my anxiety level also begins to build. For me, the summer not only signifies the start of barbecues and swimming at the beach, it is truly the season of FRIZZ. The small Ohio community in which I reside alongside Lake Erie has notoriously brutal summer humidity. It has wreaked havoc on my naturally curly hair for as long as I can remember. These conditions create a perfect storm of frizz on my head that I have never quite learned how to manage.

So naturally, I was intrigued to learn that hair guru Marc Anthony came out with a new line of products this year specifically targeting the source of my hair stress – frizz. I was very excited to learn that I would get the chance to test the entire Bye Bye Frizz Keratin Smoothing Collection by Marc Anthony.

In order to better understand how to cope with frizz, Marc Anthony himself feels that it is necessary to understand the underlying causes of the problem. According to the company, “The cuticle is the outermost part of the hair shaft made up of dead cells that protect the inner structure of the hair and give it strength. When the cuticle is lying flat or closed, it looks smooth and allows light to be reflected off the surface for a natural sheen. When the cuticle is open, hair appears frizzy, dull and coarse. Many factors can contribute to a frizzy cuticle including type of texture (i.e. curly hair), damage, dehydration, and humidity.” I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have at least two strikes against me here.

Marc Anthony’s new Bye Bye Frizz Keratin Smoothing Collection has four products in its arsenal to fight for long-term frizz control. The Keratin Smoothing Shampooicon ($6.99) and Keratin Smoothing Conditionericon ($6.99) are both sulfate free and are formulated with K-Silk Complex (Hydrolyzed Silk and Keratin) and an Amino Acid Blend. The unique formulation creates a coherent cuticle smoothing layer while additionally improving strength, repairing surface damage, and binding moisture.

Ultimately, when used together, the shampoo and conditioner work to create soft, silky, and shiny hair. I’ve been thrilled with the results of this combo; together they have made my hair much more manageable, soft, and shiny. They both tame my tangles, and much of my frizz. Plus at under 7 bucks a pop, they are a steal.

For even more smoothness, the Keratin Smoothing Blow Dry Cream icon ($7.99) can be used on both straight and curly hair to create either a sleek blowout or for scrunching and diffusing curls.

I must say the Blow Dry Cream is a surprising winner for me. I hate blow drying my hair. I am just lazy, and need a quick morning hair routine. I was glad to learn that this cream works magic on my curls when air drying. It helps to provide definition. And the cream without a doubt helped to smooth my frizzy hair. At $7.99, this cream is a dream. I love it!

Finally, for those with serious frizz there’s the 30 Day No Frizz Keratin Smoothing Treatment icon ($11.99) which one use can smooth frizzy hair for up to 30 days. It removes frizz from curly or straight hair, and softens the texture of curls and waves for faster, easier styling. The heat-activated Hydrolyzed Keratin formula penetrates the cuticle to smooth the surface layer. It helps to reduce blow drying time. It also helps to seal in moisture, thus preventing additional humidity from diffusing into the cortex. Ultimately, this treatment should reduce overall daily styling time.

Truthfully, the 30-Day No Frizz Keratin Smoothing Treatment is not an easy process for someone like me, who doesn’t typically blow dry or flat iron my hair. There are a number of steps (washing with a clarifying shampoo, partially blow drying, application of the treatment, a 30 minute wait followed by flat ironing) and the whole process takes several hours. Yes, it does give decent results, but if you can’t make this once a month time commitment, you may want to skip this one. The other products in the line do not require this level of commitment, and are amazing.

Ultimately, the 30-day No Frizz Keratin Smooth Treatment can save you time in your daily hair routine and may be a great option for those that are slaves to the flat iron or with serious frizz issues. While it is not perfect, it is certainly an affordable option at $11.99, compared to almost $300 for a salon keratin treatments.

Pros:
The Keratin Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner are fantastic!
The Keratin Smoothing Blow Dry Cream also works when you feel like letting your hair air dry

Con:
The 30-Day No Frizz Keratin Smoothing Treatment is a time consuming, multi-step process (but may be worth it for those with serious frizz and/or flat iron addicts)

I must say that overall, I was very pleased with Marc Anthony’s Bye Bye Frizz line and it gets 5 stars from me. I no longer fear summertime frizz. I have a feeling that this summer will go smoothly for me and my hair.

  1. The shampoo, conditioner and blow-dry cream sound like must-haves for frizz-prone girls like us, @kellie76 . Your post and 5 star rating make me want to run to the store!

  2. I have already repurchased the shampoo and conditioner. I love them!! This line is truly a great alternative to salon keratin treatments. My grad student budget does not allow for me to get $3o0 keratin treatments. :(

  3. Wow, super affordable and works wonders?! I pretty much HAVE to buy this then. I probably won’t make the time for the keratin treatment, but the shampoo, conditioner and blow dry cream are totally calling my name. My poor fried hair needs to be tamed.

    1. My hair is without a doubt much smoother when I use this line. I am for sure still a fan. They are a great drug store option!!

  4. I need to try this. Keratin treatments of any kind have been working wonders on my straightening routine, so I’m excited to try it out!

  5. Can I still get volume and bounce w the bye bye frizz treatment? I have a short bob, and I use hot rollers to get some lift. I do not want stick straight hair, just frizz control here in humid R.I .
    Near the ocean.

  6. So this is not harmful like the Brazilian treatments? Formaldehyde free?

  7. I have tried SOOOO many different products over the years, and the Shielo Hydrate Shampoo and conditioner that has tamed my incredibly thick, frizzy hair. I’ve used everything from Its A 10, to Paul Mitchell. My hair would still be dry and a huge damaged mess. First time i used Shielo’s Hydrate Shampoo, my hair dried straight and smooth, literally has not been this soft and healthy in years. GREAT BUY :) because 1 bottle lasts for so long since the products is so strong.
