The luxury line has my lips saying “j’adore!”

Le Métier de Beauté Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipsticks with four different shadesphotos: we heart this

Normally with my reviews I would try to open with a clever anecdote or some kind of interesting tidbit of information, but I’m just going to cut to the chase on this one and say: I love, love, LOVE the Moisture Stain Lipsticks from Le Métier de Beauté!

What is it about these lipsticks that have me so head over heels? First, the Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipsticks ($32) come in a wide range of shades and are named after fun global hot spots like Paris, Thailand, and Monaco. Second, they are packaged in cool, modern, black, rubbery, ringed tubes. And third, they feature key ingredients like jojoba, lanolin and shea butter to boost the moisturizing factor.

While the shades themselves are rich and fun, it’s the other aspects of these lipsticks that really sold me, mainly that they delivered everything they promised! These were the perfect balance between both a lipstick and a stain. They have a very light, almost creamy texture and go on silky smooth. And like a stain the color is a bit sheer, but has full coverage like a lipstick. If you want a more dynamic color then you can easily build up additional layers without feeling like you’ve caked on a ton of lipstick.

Available in 26 beautiful hues, the team received four shades for review.

bright warm red with an orange edge lipstick

Riviera – bright warm red with an orange edge

creamy brown tinged nude lipstick in a light-colored background

San Tropez – creamy brown tinged nude

ark wine color, tinged with the slightest reddish copper hue lipstick

I tested Castelo, a sensual, dark wine color, tinged with the slightest reddish copper hue. It’s great for an evening out!

I also tried Captiva, a pinkish, caramel brown with tiny flecks of gold shimmering throughout. It’s a great neutral shade that’s perfect for daywear since it’s subtle without being boring.

I would suggest stopping by your local makeup counter to test these out. Word around the internet is that the online color samples aren’t necessarily always true to the actual color and I found this to be true with the two shades I tested.

Luckily, we have Stef’s mad photography skills to give us a great look at these gems in action:

Once on, these lipsticks remain blendable, yet won’t bleed or feather! And even more impressive is the outstanding staying power. I wore these for an evening out and despite drinks and food, there was only a slight fading of color, but for the most part it stayed put. A good sign: I actually had to remove it before I went to bed!

Plus these truly do moisturize. Normally I feel some stains can dry out my lips, but not these gems. My lips felt supple and soft the entire time it was on and even after I took the lipstick off.

I know $32 seems a hefty price to pay for 0.14 ounce tube of lipstick, but the quality of Le Métier de Beauté’s ‘Colour Core’ Moisture Stain Lipsticks are beyond anything I’ve used before. I promise the second you try one of these out you will have to fight the urge to buy every shade in this line!

Pros:
Very moisturizing
Combines the best parts of a lipstick and a stain
Superb quality
Wide range of shades

Cons:
Pricey
Only available in limited stores

  1. I got to try St Tropez and I adore it as well! It’s a great nude that pairs well with dark, smokey eyes. I agree the staying power is excellent, this lipstick really grips your lips and hangs on. Despite that grip it still has a soft, creamy texture to it. I’d also like to try Captiva which looks like the perfect “office” color. 4 stars from me, only because the price is a tad steep.

  2. I’ve officially lost it for this lipstick! I’m absolutely in love. I got to try Riviera; a bright retro orange red. I wore it to work yesterday and someone told me I looked very “Mad Men”. But even better than that, it wore SO well. Straight to lunch (4.5 hours), I wiped it off to eat, then reapplied and it made it until I got home (another 4.5 hours). My husband met me at the door and said “you look just as pretty as you did when you left this morning”. Seriously, that’s like the best 2 compliments I’ve had in ages! If you need an ego boost, try wearing a good red lipstick.

The formula is a dream. Super creamy and long wearing. I swear my lips felt as nice 4 hours later as they did when I first applied. Maybe I’m crazy, but I have no problem paying $32 for a lipstick that feels this good. I’d rather buy one amazing tube than 2 that are nothing to write home about.

This was my very first Le Métier de Beauté product and what a segway. Straight on my list of splurge worthy brands. 5 stars!

    1. I was drooling over that picture of Riviera, and and after you said it looks very Mad Men I was totally hooked. The tube looks weird and $32 (ouch) is a little more than I like to spend on lip products since I have so many already, but if it really does wear that well (4.5 hrs, need to actually REMOVE it before bedtime), you can pretty much guarantee I’m going to run to Nordstrom ASAP and snatch one up…

  3. I don’t think my local Nordstrom carries Le Métier de Beauté, but I’m willing to take a drive to check out the range of colors after reading your post, @kari ! Yes, they’re expensive, but they really do sound (and look) perfect!

  4. Seriously, everyone needs to own one of these! These are hands down the most perfect lipstick I’ve ever used! I give them 5 stars and would even give more if I could!

One side note, I did read on some other blogs that there was a problem with the tips often being smushed, which if you look at these photos you can even see that. Not sure what causes that since the tubes themselves seem great and aren’t too loose in how they twist. Strange. But totally doesn’t deter me from loving these!

  5. Wow, you guys have me SOLD! I’m heading over to Nordstrtoms! Love the colors and packaging! I’m willing to splurge! @stef, you are sooooo funny! I dub thee, Lipstick Queen!

  6. These sound incredible – great review!! I am always on the lookout for the perfect red or more importantly lately, the perfect nude. St. Tropez looks like it might be it!

  7. Castelo and Captiva are calling my name…but I’m telling them to shut their mouths b/c I can’t drop $64 on 2 lipsticks…I’m going to check these out at the nearest Nordstrom’s to see them in person to see if they’re as awesome as the photos tell me they are :P

  8. This is the kind of lipstick I walk by in the store slowly, running my fingers over the display case. I can’t justify spending that much on lipstick (heh, I think my hubby would have a conniption!) but oh man, a girl can dream…
