The wht fave joins the fight against eye shadow creasing
My body is on a mission to destroy me. It seems like the minute I solve a beauty dilemma, my body finds another to plague me with. I find a product that keeps me from being an oil slick at the end of day and instead at 10pm I find flaky dry patches. I finally perfect a routine to tame my curls and suddenly major gray hairs start to creep in. Yay, no more blackheads on my nose….wait, what is that on my chin?!?
The one silver lining with having solved one problem and then finding another is that you learn what brands to keep in your beauty arsenal – if a company makes one life-saver, they usually deliver another. This is why when I received IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes! 5-in-1 Mascara and Bye Bye Lid Lines Anti-Aging Primer for review, I was thrilled; I’ve reviewed Hello Lashes! previously and since IT Cosmetics had come through before, I had high hopes.
I am nearly incapable of sticking to a single brand when it comes to eye products, so trying Hello Lashes ($20) again was like finding your favorite pair of comfy slippers after losing them for months.
The 5-in-1 formula is just as great as I remember (click here for the in-depth wht review), working overtime as a hydrating primer, lash volumizer, enhancing serum and lash darkening tint with a wand that serves as a comb and curler. Once again I have soft, feather-y lashes; even the teeny ones in the corner of my eyes due to the lovely standard wand applicator with a ball wand at the end.
Hoping to strike gold again, I also tried Bye Bye Lid Lines ($24), an anti-aging eyeshadow primer. Paraben-free (seriously, who uses that anymore?), cruelty-free and packed with vitamin K, green tea extract and acai and grapeseed oils, this hypo-allergenic primer fights puffiness and discoloration while smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles in order to give you a smooth canvas for your favorite shadows.
Bye Bye Lid Lines comes in a generous size (over 5ml) with a doe foot applicator. The applicator helps make thin application easy, but will not endear itself to germaphobes and having to toss the tube after three months is a kick in the pocketbook. Using your own clean applicator will solve that, but I definitely wish the primer came in a squeeze tube or pot.
Performance-wise, Bye Bye Lid Lines is on par with my favorite eyeshadow primers though not quite as long lasting. The formula requires 30 seconds dry time and even then the primer still feels a bit creamy. After applying shadow, the color payoff is excellent and has good staying power, but is not smudge-proof.
Bye Bye Lids Pros:
• Paraben and Fragrance-free
• Smoothes out lids and stops creases
• Grabs onto color and makes it pop
Bye Bye Lids Cons:
• Packaging will lead to product wasting
• Not smudge-proof
IT Cosmetics continues to impress me with their cruelty-free products. Hello Lashes! is in my top-three mascaras of all-time and while Bye Bye Lids is not my favorite eyeshadow primer, it is a worthy solider in the fight against my rebellious body. They’ve helped me conquer wimpy lashes and now lid lines and creased shadow, so I will definitely look to them again for my next battle. Who knows, maybe I’ll eventually win the war.
