MAC’s got the recipe for scrumptious color this season!

MAC Baking Beauties

Artfully decorated cakes are still one of the hottest thing going in the foodie world. Leave it to MAC, always inspired by the latest in pop culture, to create a collection, Baking Beauties, with these sweet confections in mind.

And MAC once again delivers with a line of “so pretty you could eat them up” colors in a delectable range of flattering products. We’ve shared a few of the goodies for eyes and lips, so now let’s take a mouth-watering gander at the items for cheeks and nails.

MAC Baking Beauties Pearlmatte Face Powder

Pearlmatte Face Powder ($30) – MAC’s face powders are my newest obsession, and these two beauties shot to the top of my must-have list. Depending on your complexion, these velvety soft powders work as a blush and/or highlighter, offering an ethereal glow and soft flush to the face. Add in the flower and leaf design that is embossed in the powder and you can see why these beauties make this girl squeal with glee.

MAC Baking beauties Pink Buttercream Pearlmatte Face PowderPink Buttercream

Pink Buttercream – the white edge is an overspray over a light cool pink base with medium cool pink buds and periwinkle leaves. Swirled, it’s a shimmery cool pink.

After much hemming and hawing (how to choose just one?!), I tested Pink Buttercream. This oh-so-soft and very flattering pink adds a hint of color to the apples of my cheeks and does an amazing job highlighting cheek bones, the forehead and decolletage. The shimmering powder adds a soft, very natural looking glow that I plan on wearing all summer long.

MAC Baking beauties In For A treat Pearlmatte Face PowderIn for a Treat

In for a Treat – Just like Pink Buttercream, the white edge is an overspray with a shimmery nude base, warm medium pink flowers and mint green leaves. Swirled, it’s a light shimmery coral.

I was so sad to pass this one on to a wht tester (I’m stingy when it comes to MAC Face Powders!) and I can’t wait to hear what the lucky gal has to say about this sweet treat.

MAC Baking beauties Pink Rebel Lustre Drops

Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel ($21) – Just in time for summer, MAC introduces this bronzer that “applies like liquid sun.” The water-based bronzer was inspired by their customer favorite Face and Body FX and is great for all skin types – oily, combination and dry.

Our swatcher says that on the skin Pink Rebel give a peachy gold glow that feels “very orgasm-y” (the blue pink description nowhere to be found.)

MAC Baking beauties nail lacquer

Nail Lacquer ($16) – Last but not least, MAC has added three sweet shades to their Nail lacquer collection. These high gloss formulas promise a streak-free and long-lasting manicure (or pedicure!) with minimal chipping. All three of the Baking Beauties lacquers are housed in MAC’s signature bottles and have a cream finish.

MAC Baking beauties Pistachio Crème nail lacquerPistachio Crème

Pistachio Crème – A light and bright, turquoise/robin’s egg blue hybrid.

This color just screams spring and has the ability to make me happy just looking at it. The one slight downside is that it takes three coats to get the perfect opaque finish.

MAC Baking beauties Confectionary nail lacquerConfectionary

Confectionary – cool lavender pink

This soft and pretty lacquer feels very lady-like and has a sheer and buildable color. Again, it took three coats and was still a bit on the sheer side.

MAC Baking beauties Bleu Velvet nail lacquerBleu Velvet

Bleu Velvet – periwinkle blue

Another sheer and buildable hue, this perfectly periwinkle blue lacquer has an-all seasons feel and offers great coverage with just two coats.

Overall, MAC’s Baking Beauties offers a delicious range of spring and summer hues, and just like their gourmet cake inspiration, will have you wanting to devour them at first sight.

  1. I love the designs on the face powders and the pastel nail colors. They really are sweet enough to eat!

  2. @tyna, you won my heart! The nail polishes are exceptionally lovely, but I said an audible “Aw–how sweet!” over “Pink Buttercream” (the dog gave me a strange look and left the room). It’s so gorgeous that I don’t know if I could actually break down and wear it–I might just frame it!

    1. The images won’t leave my head! These powders are too beautiful to be believed!

    2. Enough, already, Gigi!

  3. Love the compacts, I think I might have to splurge on one of those, and I really want the Confectionary nail color, sooooo pretty!

  4. Ugh, I’m SUCH a sucker for Pearlmatte face powders (never met one I didn’t like) and Lustre Drops! My collection is bursting at the seams, but I think I have room for 3 more… Okay, okay, I KNOW I have room for 3 more!

  5. I didn’t feel like the powders were as cute as some of MAC’s past powders. In For a Treat looks pretty but a little subtle.

  6. I’m sold on the Nail Lacquer Confectionary- seriously, that is sooo me! The MAC Collection of Baking Beauties are artsy for sure! I’d have a hard time messing them up, but would!

  7. My word, those Baking Beauties are darling! I seriously want the Lustre Drops…it looks amazing. The polish colors are awfully sweet too!

  8. The Nail Lacquer in Confectionary is my new favorite shade (3 of my last 4 self-manicures were done with it!). It looks a little dark in the bottle, but it comes out so nicely and does not require a top coat. The Lustre Drops will be perfect for adding to my summer make-up routine. It looks good with a slight sun-kissed glow and goes on very smoothly.

  9. Oooo! In For a Treat is very pretty, but PINK REBEL. That is gorgeous, it looks just like my beloved PaintPot in Rubenesque! I’ve never used Lustredrops, but I think I need to try them now – a creamy liquid version of my favorite PaintPot?! TAKE MY MONEY!!

  10. This collection is so adorable. I have interest in the face powders because they are too cute to pass up. However, I think the candy nail colors are so up my alley :)

  11. The Pearlmatte Face Powders are so pretty! I’m really tempted to treat myself to one (or both)– although I’d be reluctant to mess up their scrumptious designs!

  12. I was the lucky recipient of In for a Treat and I adore it! It’s fairly subtle, but as someone who likes my makeup more on the natural side (with the exception of a fabulous lip color of course) it was just right as a mild blush/highlighter combo. I usually shy away from highlighters because I feel like they are too often super glittery and remind me of middle-school era shimmer overload. If you’re hesitant about highlighters or just want one a little more low-key, this is a must-have!
A little confused by the Pistachio Creme being more or less light blue, but it’s super pretty nonetheless!
