The best in beauty doesn’t always come in a bottle

Gadget Alert: Are you ready to hear about something new and exciting? Buckle your seatbelts wehearters! I am excited to introduce you to one of the latest and most talked about beauty gadgets on the market, Luna by Foreo .

Luna is a new revolutionary anti-aging and facial cleansing system. The angels are singing from the heavens “AAAHHH.” (You know how I love double duty items.)

The Foreo company comes to us from Stockholm, Sweden, and their mission is “beauty beyond cosmetics.” This is the first company to use silicone in a unique anti-aging and cleansing device. Silicone is resistant to bacteria and this makes it the ideal substance to use in cleansing.

Their promise is your face will be six times cleaner than washing by hand and change your cleansing routing in two minutes or less. This is intriguing because even the busiest person has two minutes, right?

Luna is a non-abrasive cleansing brush. In fact, it is a brush without any bristles. The Luna has rounded silicone “touch points” molded in specific alignments to customize to different skin types. T-Sonic™ (Transdermal Sonic) pulsations are applied across the dermal surface to instantly refresh the look and feel of the skin.

The original Luna is available in three models, each retailing for $199:

• LUNA for Ultra-Sensitive Skin
• LUNA for Sensitive/Normal Skin
• LUNA for Combination Skin

I tested the LUNA for Sensitive/Normal Skin and found that my skin got a gentler but, deeper clean. The touch points lift away impurities and dead skin cells. Lifting out the impurities is not always pretty. I did have some breakouts come to the surface at first but, overall with Luna my skin did improve.

You can adjust the pressure of the touch points with a plus/minus system that actually recalls your last setting. I found this to be very advantageous in problem areas. This feels like getting a gentle massage. There is not any abrasive twisting or pulling that could result in damage to the skin.

I have to be honest, Luna’s anti-aging properties was actually the hook that got me most excited. After all, who wants to look their age? The anti aging mode reminded me of reflexology for the face. Using the back side of the Luna in this mode relaxes facial muscles and provides a boost of microcirculation that supports the collagen and elastin.

Pros:
Deep gentle cleaning
Products absorb deeply increasing their overall effectiveness
Waterproof
No ongoing costs for replacement brushes

Cons:
Shape is strange to get used to at first

Overall, this gadget loving girl was pleased with the Luna by Foreo. It’s simple to use, offers a thoroughly clean face without bothering my (sometimes) sensitive skin and, let’s face it, is kind of fun to use – meaning lazy people may be more likely to wash their face before bed. I’m still testing and waiting to see the anti-aging benefits – check the comments to see my latest thoughts!

we heartsters – Are you a gadget girl like me? Would you be willing to give the Luna a try?

  1. wow, I’m suffering from clogged pores as of late and even exfoliating isn’t helping. I probably need a deeper clean. This gadget looks so cool! I’m going to try to look into this :)

    1. Personally, I found that a deeper clean is key to for clear happy skin. I am also a fan of double cleansing. That means use a gentle cleanser first to get off all of your makeup and sunblock. Then use your “real” cleanser to actually clean your skin.

    2. oooh – I love that ‘double cleaning’ tip @hao7903! I do this sometimes when I’m feeling extra dirty or greasy – but always went the opposite way -starting with a heavier cleanser and following up with a gentle one. Going to try your order next time!

    3. I like to start with the gentle cleanser because I feel like the makeup just slides off my face this way. Plus, I use the same gentle cleanser to get eye makeup off. (Anything stronger would irritate my eyes.)

  2. Oooooh, looks like a great piece. What does the queen say about this one? Is it comparable to Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing Systems or the new guy, Clarisonic Mia? Dang $200 beans! I’m saving up for something like this!

    1. I can say from my experience — it is similar to the Clarisonic but, yet different. I found it to be a bit of a deeper clean and gentler. I love that I do not have to worry about brush replacement.

  3. I love that this product doesn’t require brush replacement and that silicon is bacteria resistant. Just wish it had a better price tag… I’m going to have to save for this one!

  4. I still love my Clarisonic but this one has some great pluses – particularly the germ resistance and not having the need to buy replacement parts. And the deeper but gentler face wash has me intrigued as well. I’ll be checking this out when my Clarisonic gives up the ghost!

  5. I’ve been using the Olay Pro-X and I love it (it’s a simplified Clarisonic), and it was only $30. I bought it because I didn’t want to splurge on a Clarisonic, although Holly’s been trying to convince me to do so for awhile since she loves hers so much! I appreciate your thorough and honest review, Holly.

  6. The more I use my Luna, the more I like it. I look forward to washing at night and then turning it around to use with skincare. Even if it’s in my mind, I love the idea of it working on anti-aging.

  7. This looks to be very, very interesting! My skin is getting more ridiculous as I age. It is so oily and yet dry. My acne seems to be getting worse as well. I am just so over it. Maybe I need a new gadget in my life. I like that you don’t have to buy replacement heads. That is a huge bonus in my book.

  8. @hao9703, this is tremendous! I just read that “double-cleansing” is imperative to good skin. I am a firm (really stupid pun intended) believer that facial exercises and massages keep you young. This is Heavenly indeed!
