Lash Sleeve Mascara Review and Photos

I’m the perfect guinea pig for mascaras. With my stick straight lashes and lids that tend to get oily midday, I can really put a mascara to the test. With the summer upon us, I need something that won’t stray. Beach time is here so I have to turn to my favorite types of mascara to sport on the beach.

Yes, I said it. I wear a bit of makeup to the beach. Don’t say you haven’t. That’s why I’m way excited that Lash Sleeve Mascara has hit my vanity, ready to hit the sand, and take on summer with me.

Lash Sleeve Mascara ($15) is a summer savior. When sweat, humidity and heat are involved, I mainly gravitate towards tube mascaras. What are tube mascaras? They are made of an innovative, waterproof formula that when applied, forms tubes/sleeves around each individual lashes. No residue is left behind, and it will stay put ‘til you wash it off. It’s a really cool concept and it really does work!

The wand is a very traditional bristled wand. While my lashes actually agree better with the shorter plastic bristled wands, Lash Sleeve’s wand didn’t interfere with my lashes, or get any product on my lids.

Application Tip: Try to avoid doing the back and forth wiggle move that you usually do with traditional mascaras to build up volume. Tube mascaras work way better when you go with a straight up and down application, allowing the formula to really do its work on your lashes.

Here are some before and after images for you. As you can see in the before, my lashes are very straight (and always in great need of an eyelash curler). After curling them, I then applied Lash Sleeve.

The after photo shows Lash Sleeve freshly applied on my curled lashes. I was expecting a very wet formula, but it was surprisingly quite dry (my personal preference when it comes to mascaras).

Though it was drier, the formula did weigh my lashes down a bit, causing them to lose its curl shortly after I took the photo. I have very fickle, straight lashes that can rarely hold a curl, so I would say this is most likely an occurrence that wouldn’t apply to everyone.

Performance wise, it really did stay put. I walked around outside and ran errands on a sunny day, exercised inside when I got home and didn’t remove my makeup until around 11 p.m. That’s a solid 13 hours of wear and no raccoon eyes to be seen!

To remove, you simply need some warm water and a bit of pressure from your own fingers and then tubes slide off on their own. Like magic.

This mascara is perfect if you are looking for something simple for your lashes when you aren’t seeking that va va voom look. That’s why I think it’s wonderful for summer activities.

Pros:
Truly waterproof, budge proof formula
No animal testing involved
No makeup remover required

Cons:
Depending on your lashes, it may not hold a curl for long
Not ideal if you’re looking for a volumizing effect
Limited availability to purchase

  1. Like you @mandabear I adore tube mascaras! No matter what a mascara says – waterproof, smudge-proof, budge-proof – I always seem to end up with it running after a few hours. But not with tube mascaras – they truly do stay in place until you take it off.

Loving the look of this one – nice classic brush (my favorite), cruelty-free, and a good price to boot. Plus I love to pick up smaller indie brands – makes me feel good about where I am putting my beauty budget money!

    1. I totally agree – and I think mascara’s such a different type of animal in the beauty world. You can’t just wake up and start mixing colors or textures etc. So when an indie brand makes a mascara, the world does listen.

  2. @mandabear – I am hoping that summer is here! Well, let me rephrase that the sun is here for now. I will have to check out this mascara. Waterproof is a key quality when you live in a climate with a lot of rain.

    1. Yes! I have recently started using waterproof on my brows too because I’m scared the sun’s rays will melt them off lol.

  3. I’ve been wanting to get a tubing mascara, especially for my lower lids so thanks for this review!

    1. Give this a try! Tubing mascaras are exactly what they say they are and are as basic as they come. Perfect for everyone.

  4. I find tube mascaras interesting (especially when you pull them off, it’s kinda fun!) but they’re def. not ones that I normally buy. I think fiber mascaras may be my fav because they add length.

    1. I love layering fiber mascaras on top of volumizing mascaras for a noticeable effect! I think there’s a time and place for all types of mascaras. Beach, water rides and cry fests = tubing mascara stat!

  5. I’m with you @stef, I really got hooked on the tube mascaras with fiber because they are buildable and your lashes looked great all day and night. The reason I’m a fan? I love to go swimming and you really can be completely submerged in water without the hassle of rocky raccoon eyes.

    1. I don’t think there is a tube mascara with fibers @irene – I think they are 2 different mascara beasts!

    2. ok! So, I must be mixing up the d.j.v. beautenizer called Fiberwig LX. I love that stuff! That one, I’m referring to as the brush-on fiber mascara. It encapsulates each lash with a fiber-rich coating that comes off in tubes the same way..

  6. Tube mascaras are pretty much the only mascaras that last on my oily lids–I might have to check this beauty out :)

  7. I will definitely be checking this out for summer…my mascara always marks up my face in the heat so I need to try something new!

  8. I’m not a huge tube mascara fan (I like my lashes to blow over small children when I bat them) but the people I know who are fans are MASSIVE FANS and won’t wear anything else! And for $15, this is definitely a really good price. Especially for an indie brand, gotta support those small business owners!! Great review, @mandabear!

  9. I’m very happy with this mascara. It isn’t great for oomph but it performs wonderfully on a daily basis. I think the price is good too and they ship for free.
