FABulous skin care to the rescue!

Your soundtrack for today’s review

If I could get the beauty fairy to grant me one wish, well…I’d ask for about five more wishes because come on beauty fairy, let’s not be stingy. But high on that list would be to be make my skin look as good at 3pm as it does at 8am. My oily skin can be great for giving that dewy appearance but steadily turns into oil slick as the day wears on. So I fight my losing battle with a daily dose of blotting papers and loose or pressed powders.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Oil-Free Mattifying Gel ($30, 2 oz) is designed specifically for oily, combination or acne-prone skin. The gel is made with all-natural ingredients to not only curb oil production, but to hydrate your skin. The FAB Mattifying Gel is gentle and left me more on the dewy side of matte—I had about five hours before I reached for my powder. Even then, the shine was much less than my typical glare. FAB recommends the Gel for twice daily use; the small 2 ounce bottle can be carried with you for a quick touch-up halfway through the day, if needed.

First Aid Beauty Vitamin Hydrating Mist ($16, 2 oz) is a spray of alcohol-free vitamins, humectant and antioxidants to hydrate, refresh and revive. This baby is great for a midday pick me up, especially if you keep it in the fridge on a hot day! (Beware showing your coworkers how nice a couple sprays feel after coming back from a hot walk from the parking lot. You’ll bust them snitching sprays in front of the break room fridge.) I can’t say that I saw any skin improvement from using the spray, but it’s a nice way to pamper myself, as well as set my makeup. I did detect a hint of a scent in the Hydrating Mist from some of the citrus extracts,—nothing strong, it smells a bit like lemon-infused spa water.

In addition to being allergy tested and fragrance free, First Aid Beauty products do not have parabens, harsh chemicals, colorants. And they don’t use any animal testing and utilize vegan alternatives when possible.

Fight the good skincare fight AND do it as natural as possible? Yes, please. Overall, First Aid Beauty is a superhero in the fight to save my skin from being overtaken by oil.

What about you, we heartsters – do you want either of these First Aid Beauty products to come to your rescue?

  1. Fellow oily skin sufferer here – always searching for the perfect balance that helps curb the sheen but doesn’t swing too far in the opposite direction. It’s nice to see a product that acknowledges that mattifying and hydrating need to go hand in hand. Sounds like it’s worth a shot!

This looks like the perfect dynamic duo–great review. I struggle with t-zone oiliness and I’m a freak for face mists and tonics, so I’m excited to give this combo a whirl.

You know, I’ve scoffed at facial mists, but I scoff no more. This stuff is legit; especially now that it’s climbing into triple digits…

I’m fairly new to FAB, but I’m very impressed. Their commitment to being non-allergenic and gentle is nothing to sneeze at; I have friends with VERY sensitive skin and I plan to steer them FAB’s way.
