I’ve always been hard on my nails, but the past few months have been ridiculous. I decided grow a sunflower garden in my backyard, and spent many hours preparing the soil, planting, weeding, watering…mostly without gloves. Yes, I know, what was I thinking?

My results: a bunch of flowers just starting to bloom, and the most raggedy, dry, thick cuticles I’ve ever seen on a human being. I’ve been trying to appreciate the blossoms and pretend the unsightly claws aren’t an issue.

Now I can give up my cuticle denial thanks to the most amazing cuticle product ever: Nail Butter ($24). This generously sized, polka-dotted jar contains cream that’s handmade from essential oils and lanolin. No added chemicals, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, artificial dyes or fragrances…everything is 100% natural, and nothing is testing on animals.

I love that Nail Butter was developed from owner Christina Cole’s secret family recipe. The Athens, Georgia native’s grandmother was a dental hygienist whose tough job took a toll on her nails. To help with this, more than 30 years ago, Christina’s father developed the blend of nourishing ingredients that became the recipe for Nail Butter. Now, thanks to Christina, we can all experience the fast improvement and long-term effectiveness of her dad’s creation.

“the most amazing cuticle product ever”

I’ve used other cuticle creams in the past and found them to be okay. They always feel nice, but never make any lasting improvement in my cuticles. This is where Nail Butter rules. Not only does it sink right in, soothing my dry digits, but the effects are visible right away and just keep getting better. I’ve been using Nail Butter for two weeks, and I’m sorry I didn’t take a before photo. Never mind the gardening damage– my cuticles look neater and healthier than they have in years!

Nail-butter-review-4Mmmm, buttery!

In addition to the healing, moisturizing benefits, Nail Butter has an added bonus: scent. A cloud of lemony fragrance surrounds me as I rub the cream into my cuticles. I wanted to take my jar to work, but I know a fragrance-sensitive coworker would complain. Hey, Nail Butter, please offer an unscented version so I can use your fabulous product everywhere! In the meantime, I’m using it at home, enjoying the pampering experience, including the scrumptious scent.

Besides the Lemongrass version I tested, Nail Butter also comes in Gardenia, which I will be ordering pronto! The price includes shipping and handling to anywhere in the U.S. While I don’t suggest you dig your nails in the dirt the way I did, Nail Butter can help whatever ails your cuticles…or heels, knees, elbows — wherever you need it!

  1. I AM SO HERE FOR THIS.

I’m a nail addict, to the point that I bought lip brush pens to decant my favorite cuticle oil in so I could carry it around with me. (Shut up, I can stop any time.) So let me tell you, I know my cuticle products and this looks AMAZING. I love that it’s all natural and that jar looks flippin’ huge! It’s so hard to find nail products that sink in fast enough to be worth the kind of daily (hourly) application that is needed to heal ragged and injured nails and cuticles, so this sounds right up my alley. I’m already signed up for the Nail Butter emails and this is next on my list of nail purchases!

    1. Haha, compulsive cuticle care is nothing to be ashamed of, @lyssachelle! I know you’ll love Nail Butter.

  2. My raggedy cuticles and nails could probably use this :/ I typically only use a moisturizer for my nails/cuticles in the winter, but they’ve been oddly dry this summer. I’m impressed by how massive that jar is–my current go-to is a tiny tin. Great post, @turboterp!

    1. I was probably using the same tiny tin, @krista. This big jar of Nail Butter dwarfs it… and works so much better!

  3. I got to try this too, and it is indeed a keeper. It reminds me of Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, but Nail Butter is SO much softer. Smells better too! Lemongrass is a lovely upgrade. @krista – my hands are really dry this summer too (Obama! *shakes fist*) and I’ve even been using Nail Butter on my knuckles as well as my nails. Really great stuff.

Side note: LOVE a product with free shipping!

    1. It’s really great, isn’t it? And do you love the polka dots as much as I do?
