On a recent overnight trip, my sister watched in disbelief as I embarked on my skin-prep routine; I was pulling product after product out of my bag (picture Mary Poppins’ magical carpet bag, only for serums and toners and potions).

There’s no shame in my game, though, because skin care is important. And after trying IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup, Anti-Aging Armour Regenerative Concentrate and Bye Bye Pores Primer, I promptly made room in my bag to house all three.

As a longtime fan of IT Cosmetics, I had high hopes for these three products, and they did not disappoint. Bye Bye Makeup Melting Balm ($38) is a sulfate-free cleansing balm: it acts as a cleanser, makeup remover and anti-aging serum in one. It’s thick yet silky, with a deliciously tangy lemon-sugar scent, and it breaks makeup down like nobody’s business. You just massage it on to dry skin and rinse; it emulsifies beautifully, leaving the skin bright, clean, and soft.

Sometimes cleansing balms leave that weird, sticky film, but Bye Bye Makeup rinses away with no residue. With this in my arsenal, I don’t even have to tackle my eye makeup with micellar water first—the balm gently and effectively dissolves my liner and mascara, even on super-goth days.

Lastly, Bye Bye makeup contains a proprietary “skin softening serum concentrate,” meant to create a moisture barrier that guards against free radicals and pollutants. That’s a bold claim, but I must admit my skin feels so soft and comfy after use; I really look forward to using this after a long day.

To prep and prime the skin, I’ve been happily using Bye Bye Pores Primer ($38). This is kind of magical, you guys; it blurs pores, fine lines, and texture issues, and it has myriad ingredients that are fabulous for skin.

Check out what’s in here: Moroccan lava clay, colloidal clay, charcoal, papaya fruit extract, hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, peptides and niacin. Together, these ingredients quell shine, add moisture where you need it, and plump the skin nicely—giving you the perfect canvas for makeup.

It also has Bye Bye Pores Optical Blurring Technology, which is kind of like the perfect Instagram filter for your complexion. I love how matte (but not tight or dry) my skin looks after application, and how my foundation just glides right on.

A little goes a long way, and because it’s non-clogging, oil-free, and translucent, it will work for all skin types and tones. If I know my makeup has to look really good and last all day, this is the primer I’ve been reaching for.

After Bye Bye Pores, I’ve been using the Anti Aging Armour Regenerative Concentrate ($38), and it’s solved a bunch of my beauty issues. When I’m pressed for time in the morning (so, um, every day of my life), I can throw this on and know that I’m getting light coverage and full sun protection. If I’m rushing and need to skip moisturizer and sunscreen, Anti Aging Armour has my back—it hydrates, blurs imperfections and adds the merest kiss of universal matching color, while boasting SPF 50+.

It’s also chock full of peptides, niacin, hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants, so I feel like my skin is getting pampered and treated with no effort on my part. It just looks polished and pretty—it leaves my skin matte, but with a soft, dewy glow that lets me skimp on a full face o’ slap.

This is light enough that you can also go ahead and do your actual foundation on top, and the Armour wears beautifully underneath as well. And because the light tint of color is translucent, it’s good for all skin tones.

  1. I love It Cosmetics! These products look great, I have yet to try a balm cleanser and this one sounds like a good one to start with! They have never disappointed me with anything I have tried.

    1. The cleansing balm would be a fabulous one to start with!

  2. @amity , I got to try Bye Bye Makeup Melting Balm, too, and you described it perfectly! I love the way my makeup just melts away, but there is no “icky film” left afterwards! I’ve always loved IT Cosmetics’ makeup, and their skincare line is proving to be just as dependably wonderful. Anti-Aging Armor sounds like another product I’d get a lot of use out of!

    1. I want to chime in that the cleansing balm does melt away the makeup. It’s consistency reminds me of coconut oil. If you have sensitive skin do not fear, I have not had a reaction. I have a friend who has drier skin and she love to put this one her face as a mask while she is in the tub.
