Don’t you just love when something is aptly named? To know immediately what’s in store? Much like you trust when you slip on a Snuggie that you’re going to feel all snuggly, Benefit Velvet Eyeshadows tell you right up front what you’re in for – a shadow that you just may mistake for velvet.
It’s no secret that we’re a bit sweet on Benefit around these parts. How could we not be? Great packaging with a retro nod, cheekily named products, and best of all- amazing quality. Well, you can check off all of those points for their Velvet eyeshadows ($18). Like the see-thru, bird adorned cases. Love the amount of pigmentation (a lot!) But I literally want to marry the texture. Seriously, where have these been all my life?
These shadows feel like they melt into your skin, rather than sit on top of them. The shimmer becoming a part of your eyelid, rather than covering it. These are powder shadows that wear like a cream (minus the tell-tale sign of a cream; creasing!) So, so good.
They’ve got quite a few shades in the collection, but there are also six vibrant, limited edition shades for Spring. Of which we got to test: Bo Peep (a, light and shimmery lily pink), Shamrocker (a pastel, iced mint) and Nice Melons (a gold-flecked coral. Tee hee, I said melons.)
We also got to test two shades in the permanent line up: Bikini Line (a sweet, sandy gold) and Where There’s Smoke (which has quickly entered into my taupe hall of fame).
