I’ve been loving our ongoing Tips for Collectors series. I mean, everyone has at least one or two items they seem to collect over and over when cruising yard sales or thrifting, right? For the record, my most repeated buy – bowls.
One category I’ve overlooked in my years of vintage shopping is linens. And this week Erin’s tips for collecting and images of her stunning linen collection had me itching to start one of my own. So this Etsy 4 for Friday I turned to our fave retro shopping site to find a few pieces to kickstart my collection:
• Here’s a great foundation item for my linen cubbie, a Vintage Embroidered and Appliqued Blue Check Tablecloth. The classic checked pattern in sky blue can work for three seasons, and in all sorts of kitchens and dining rooms. In each corner you will find an embroidered antique bicycle motif with adorable, teeny details. This tablecloth would be be especially cute for a brunch or picnic! $20
• With the holidays and dinner party season around the corner, this retro set of six Gold and White Damask Dinner Napkins is a nice find. This elegant rayon blend set features a woven leaf and scroll motif and each is hemmed on all sides with hand stitches. Mix these with jewel toned tablecloths for diner parties, add orange and brown for Thanksgiving and add them into your your holiday table setting – these classic napkins work for all of it. $18
• I love the look of mix and match sheets, but always have trouble pulling them together. Take the guess work out by picking up this Full Sized Remixed Vintage Sheet Set from Verabelle’s Attic. This already broken in set of super soft cotton sheets features a vintage mixture of solid and floral patterns in mustard yellow, powder pink, olive green and bright blue. $24
• Did you miss out on the Missoni goods at Target? Cheer yourself up by cuddling up in this Missoni-like Fall Colored Afghan! Large, tightly crocheted blanket measures 70 by 74 inches, is in great shape, and showcases zig-zags of brown, gold and orange. $59
