“So…when are you going to give me a grandchild?”
Without fail, that is the question that comes up in all conversations with my mother. Sometimes she waits a respectful 10 minutes before she asks. But other times, it’s a text with just this question alone, once even in ALL CAPS (I can only imagine this was after a particularly cute baby food commercial.) But no matter how it’s asked, the answer is always the same” “Mom, I don’t know…soon?”
Vague, I know. But it’s an honest answer. I don’t know when I’m going to get pregnant. My husband and I have been married for about six months. And while we’ve talked about babies, we’ve favored frivolous topics rather than any real planning. I.e. how cute it will be and which celebrity baby it will be best friends with. Because when it comes down to it, though I am a vivacious planner in other aspects, I’m a bit stumped when it comes to planning for a pregnancy. Starting with that first crucial step…actually getting pregnant. I didn’t even know where to start or what to expect.
That was until now. Enter Glow.
Glow is a free fertility tracking app with an amazing upside, it will give you a better understanding of your body. By tracking intimate details (and I do mean intimate, we’ll get to that in a minute) you’ll feel like a pro navigating your own health, both reproductive and overall. So, whether you want a baby now, you want a baby soon or you’re not even sure you want a baby at all; the information gathered will give you an entirely new level of awareness about yourself.
Glow Genius is the hub of the app. As you log your details, it personalizes with scientific insights, intuitive charts, important notifications and customizable reminders. The more you log, the more detailed information you receive. You’ll see your fertility calendar, complete with a window for accuracy and predictions (so you’ll know your chance of making babies on any given day). But there’s also a daily health log. Are you feeling any emotional discomfort, are you stressed, did you exercise today? Glow will track these answers and make suggestions. Is there a habit of being stressed when you don’t work out? Well then…you should work out!
Now about those intimate details, Glow wants to know them. You’d guess that you would be logging when you had sex in a fertility app. But how about in what position or if you orgasmed or not? And hey, what’s your discharge like? Glow’s not just being nosy. This information helps give a better understanding. And I mean really, did you have ANY idea that your discharge was a hint about your fertility? I didn’t.
Logging your details doesn’t just help you, either. These insights are gathered anonymously and Glow uses that information in studies for the medical community to help improve women’s health. Because if something worked for you, wouldn’t it be great if it worked for another woman too? There’s a community set up within Glow as well, available both in-app and online. You can discuss sex, health, pregnancy and much more in a setting that users have described as “uniquely helpful” and “incredibly nice.”
So even though I’m not sure I’m ready for a baby right this minute, Glow is paving the way for me to be ready one day. Soon…
