Wave “Bye Bye” to imperfections with It Cosmetics

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye and Bye Bye Poresphotos: we heart this

When I was a child I was reminded repeatedly that “Perfection does NOT exist in nature.” And while they are words worth remembering, I’m still grateful for Jamie Kern and It Cosmetics for giving a helping hand to those of us who are striving to be our best.

It Cosmetics was developed by plastic surgeons with cutting edge technology to make your skin look younger by using antioxidants and other skin loving ingredients – not the edge of a knife. Recently, the review team got the chance to test their handiwork by giving two products, Bye Bye Under Eye and Bye Bye Pores the wht scrutiny.

First let’s talk about the Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Waterproof Concealer($24). We really rely on concealers, so when I look for a concealer I have strict standards. I am looking for something that helps camouflage my flaws (not draw attention to them). I do not want anything to settle into any fine lines because that just defeats the purpose. Plus my concealer needs to have some staying power because I don’t have time for reapplication during the day.

Bye Bye Under Eye

I’m thrilled to say Bye Bye Under Eye met all of my criteria and more. This is literally the stuff my dreams of perfection are made of. This concealer is truly a magic wand that erases imperfections and makes my face appear flawless. Oh, and it also does double duty as anti-aging treatment since it contains hydrolyzed collagen and vitamins C and K, which helps to reduce discoloration over time.

Application is simple but, the key thing to remember is that this product is extremely concentrated and small amount goes a long way. I apply a TINY dot to each eye. Then I pat the concealer into place with my ring finger and it literally melts into my skin.

Small amount of cream on the foundation brushJust how little Bye Bye Under Eye do you need? The amount shown on the foundation brush is enough for BOTH eyes!

One drawback is that this amazing formula is only available in four shades (at least for now): Light (ultra fair/porcelain), Neutral Medium (a light medium), Tan (medium) and Deep (dark tan). I tested the Light shade, which in truth, was a bit too pale for me even though I would normally classify my skin as fairly light. Next time, I will try Neutral Medium, the shade which fits “70% of most people” into its range.

Finally, don’t let the name fool you because Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Waterproof Concealer is not just for eyes. You can say “Bye Bye” to anything because this multi-tasker covers and conceals discolorations, broken capillaries, dark circles, age spots, sun damage and redness and more – and it does not settle into fine lines and wrinkles.

Bye Bye Under Eye Pros:
• Covers anything (even tattoos).
• Crease proof and waterproof.
• Long lasting, all day coverage.
• Doubles as a foundation.

Cons:
• Limited to four shades.
• If you use too much product in one area it can become can be counter productive.

Now let’s talk about the Bye Bye Pores HD Silk Micro-Powder

Bye Bye Pores Micro-Powder

When I am shopping for a finishing powder I want it to help me look my best and set my makeup for the day. And it should not settle in my fine lines and highlight my flaws. Plus, I want it to last and not slide off my face. Again, this product passed my test with ease!

The Bye Bye Pores Micro-Powder ($24) is a great product because it is so universal – everyone has pore problems or something they want to hide. Plus, it comes in one shade that works for everyone because it is translucent and colorless. This is perfect for those of us that are hard to match or use one color in the summer and another in the winter.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Micro-Powder

Application is easy. All you need is a small amount to puff or brush over your face as a finishing touch. Bye Bye Pores made my face look airbrushed and my pores disappeared. Yes, I really felt as “poreless.” Plus, the powder set my makeup and even reduced the appearance of fine lines. Another winner!

Bye Bye Pores Pros:
• Reapplies well – there’s no fear of getting the caked over-powdered look.
• Great at absorbing oil and shine.
• It does not settle into fine lines and wrinkles.
• Bye Bye Pores is formulated without talc, parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance, and phthalates.

Cons:
• I wish the packaging was slightly different. I ended up with more powder on my brush than I needed. If the lid or jar was larger it would be more conducive to getting the excess off.

Bye Bye Under Eye and Bye Bye Pores are now my new favorite flawless duo. I can’t wait to try other products from this line. and you can count me in as a new and impressed fan of It Cosmetics!

  1. I got to try the Bye Bye Pores Micro-Powder and I really liked it! I use a no-color setting powder in lieu of regular face powder in my daily routine; I find that normal powders deposit too much color. Bye Bye Pores gave my MAC a run for its money; it has a slight yellow tint that makes it perfect for just about everyone and it left my skin feeling SO soft.
My only issue is the same Holly had – the packaging. The powder is SO fine, almost like cornstarch, so trying to shake off the excess is SUCH a pain. The first time I used it I tapped my brush too hard and ended up in a giant Bye Bye Pores Micro-Powder cloud! A larger jar would be perfect, I could fit my kabuki brush in there more easily and be able to tap off my excess without wasting any.

I give this a solid four stars; while I really liked the product, I don’t like the packaging and the price is a bit much for the size. However, the lack of harmful additives AND the flawless look it gives makes this a powder I’ll consider again in the future!

    1. @lyssachelle –I recently relocated the Bye Bye Pore Powder in to an empty container I had on hand. This packaging change has helped me use my large powder brush with less waste and have plenty of room to tap off the excess. (Normally, I would never go to this kind of trouble but, I LOVE this product.)

    2. @hao9703, that’s a really good idea! I have an empty set powder container from MAC that I can use, that would be perfect. Thanks so much!

  2. I tested Bye Bye Under Eye in Neutral Medium and all I can say is WOW. It’s one of the best concealers I’ve ever used! I would have guessed I’d need the lighter shade, but even with my fair skin, this color was perfect. So if you’re between shades, you might want to go darker.

Because it has a heavier consistency than my usual concealer, it took a few tries for me to get the right amount (which was way less than I started with– as you said, you just need a tiny dot). I used a damp concealer brush to dab dab dab under my eyes, and suddenly, my dark circles were gone. Even in bright sunlight! And the coverage lasted all day without creasing or looking cakey.

I really put Bye Bye to the test by covering a nasty little scar from a skin biopsy on my forearm. The scar disappeared and stayed that way all day. I’m excited about testing Bye Bye’s waterproof qualities this summer. Great review @hao9703 . Bye Bye is natural-looking yet powerful stuff! 5 stars.

  3. I inherited dark circles under my eyes from my Mom and this is seriously one of the best concealers I’ve tried. You don’t need a lot and it lasts all day. Doesn’t rub off, wear off it just looks wonderful all day. My only complaint is that if you use too much you’ll notice it and need to start over but this is definitely at the top of my list and I’d give it a strong 4 stars. I kind of wish it came in a jar instead of a tube so I could make sure I get every last drop. I also wish the color range was a bit bigger because I’m the darkest shade!

  4. I have been noticing lately that I need to step up my under eye concealing!
This concealer sounds great..is it like the Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer? Sounds similar in that only a pinpoint of product is enough to conceal…Sounds great!

  5. I tested, It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye in Neutral Medium. A perfect match for my skin tone. Until now, I’ve never heard of this concealer and thought I had heard of them all! I have to say I was also impressed with its (no pun intended) ability to completely cover whatever needs some camouflage. Here’s what I really liked about it, this formula is super buildable. I started light and worked it into the backside of my hand which helps warm the product so it glides on smoothly using my ring finger and pinky- than reapplying to areas that needed just a bit more coverage. It works well to get exactly the right amount of coverage. I didn’t notice any buildup or funky look when I was finished. Just a clear canvas. I have some areas around my nose I covered and also a brown spot on my cheek. Gone.. I have no doubt that this could cover tattoos! It stayed on all day and even after my Aqua Fit class I noticed it didn’t’ budge! Wowza! Anyone looking for full coverage in a tube, here you go! This little tube is worth every penny, and it will also last until kingdom come! Five stars. Perfection.

  6. I got the Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Waterproof Concealer … and I AM IN LOVE. I was surprised at how thick the consistency is, but I mean that in a good way. You’re right Holly, a little goes a long way.

  7. ^ I didn’t meant to submit that just yet!…. I was also going to add that because of the consistency, it actually stays put. And of course I gave it a 5. When this tube runs out I’m definitely buying another one!

  8. I bought both of these products as a gift for a 57 year old friend, who recently lost her job and needed a confidence builder for a big interview. My friend is under a great deal of stress, has sun damage and is a former smoker. The concealer covered all of her skins sins and gave her a huge amount of confidence. Plus, it made her look at least 10 years younger!

If you order the powder on QVC, you get a wonderful powder brush with it. http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.A212347.cm_scid.shpl

These products get a big 5 starts from me—despite the packaging of the powder. These products are amazing!

  9. wow this looks amazing! :) what are the ingredients for the both of them? I’m pretty sensitive to product… but this sure does look promising!

I like using Korres evening primrose cream to help with my eye bags and it seems to brighten them immediately! Still need some concealer for under the eyes though but good nonetheless… Yes to Cucumbers eye gel is great for puffiness as well :P

  10. So funny – I was just thinking this week that I needed a new concealer but was just not up for the search. My search is over before it began! I’m in – getting It Cosmetics concealer asap!

  11. I tested the powder, and unfortunately didn’t have as great of results as our other testers. I am biased against loose powders, though. I just can’t stand the enveloping cloud around my nose and eyes (contact wearer here). No matter how much I tried to tap excess, I still got the cloud. Yes, it helps with a kabuki brush instead of the included puff applicator, but not that well for me. And packaging is too small to easily fit the large brush anyways, as stated above. The color is also a little light on me – I could always see some settling in lines and whiteness, no matter how light I tried to apply or how much I tried to rub it in. I love the back story on the creation of it and what it doesn’t include, so I’m so disappointed it doesn’t work for me. What I am happy to positively report though, is that it’s definitely outstanding in controlling my oily zone. I don’t notice any shine for HOURS after applying – better than my regular go-to pressed powder from most women’s favorite makeup company. So for that, this powder gets 3 stars from me.

    1. I got the best results with a powder brush because it goes on so much lighter. The kabuki gathered too much product for me to make it work well. (I will be honest, I took one look at the puff and knew that was not going to work for me.)

  12. This concealer sounds wonderful. Love that you use such a tiny bit. Bet it lasts forever.

  13. Wow I am converted! I have dark circles that I’ve never been able to fully cover and this looks amazing. I can’t wait to check it out!

  14. I am OBSESSED with this Bye Bye Pores. I am the girl who, no matter what, her makeup is gone by 10 am. This powder keeps the shine at bay and the blush on my cheeks at play. It has replaced Laura Mercier as my favorite translucent powder to set my makeup. And when I come home from work, nine hours later, mymakeup is still there. Woo hoo!!!!

  15. Ooh, the Bye Bye Under Eye sounds great! I have found as I get older, the dark circles under my eyes are getting worse. This product sounds like the kind of coverage I’m beginning to need. I wonder how it would work under my nose… I have some broken capillaries that need coverage too…..

  16. I received the Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer in Tan and unfortunately I think I would probably be a better match for Neutral Medium. Nonetheless I tried it still and I love its consistency and the need for only a little bit of product. Before receiving this, I had heard wonderful things about it so I was very excited to try it. Even though it wasn’t a match for me I can tell through its formula (I am like the undereye concealer queen), that it’s a top notch product. I’m going to give it a 4, and I think I might try to get my hands on Neutral Medium :)

  17. Holly, great review! I know you have really high standards for your face and eye products, so if they’re your new favorite, I’m sure I’m going to love them. I need a good concealer that won’t crease, and anything that makes my pores look smaller would be great!

I was wondering what you meant by, “If you use too much product in one area it can become can be counter productive”?

    1. When you put too much on it almost highlights the flaw instead of hiding it. This stuff is industrially concentrated and unlike anything I have ever used. In fact, you can do your entire face with a small amount. I take a tiny bit and put it on the front of my hand and make the TINIEST dots all over my face and then blend it in. (Make you allow the product to warm up on your face because this really helps it smooth it out.)

  18. Great review Holly! I was lucky enough to test this fantastic concealer. It absolutely does wonders for the under eye area. And yes, it is great for other problem areas as well. But Holly is correct in pointing out that you only need a teeny tiny dot of the concealer. If you over do it you will likely have trouble blending. I can see this tube lasting a long time!! Which makes it a great buy in my opinion. My one complaint is that it was a little to dark for my ghostly skin-just a little.

    4 stars from me!!

  19. I’m sorry I’m so late to the party reviewing this—I’m in the middle of moving into a new house and haven’t had internet for the last week :P
I got to test out the Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. I can’t find my tube, (or any of my foundations, concealers, powders—I’m still digging for what box they went in) so I can’t state the exact shade name. I believe it was “Light”, but I will update this with the exact shade once I can find the dang tube (I seriously need it right now with my under eye circles from lack of sleep/stress of moving). You definitely only need the teensiest bit. I found it had the best staying power on bare skin—don’t put this on top of foundation unless you use a powder. I had some creasing whenever I put this over liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer or thick facial moisturizer. When I applied it to bare skin, it really stayed in place. As a previous poster asked—this is SIMILAR to Kevyn Aucoin SSE. It’s not AS concentrated in pigment/thickness, but it is a reasonable facsimile. Since this says under eye, I haven’t used it on blemishes or spots–just the eye area—so I don’t know if this would cause breakouts, whereas the SSE is for all-over application and gives me no issues. Overall, I think this is a great under eye concealer. It definitely hides my dark circles. I haven’t noticed the collagen or other good-for-you ingredients doing anything in particular, but they can’t hurt, right? This one gets 5 stars from me! I will update later with the shade I received once I find the tube :)

    1. I have used this product to cover a few spots of acne. But, Lucky for me that has not caused any acne or made it worse –only helped me make it disappear.

  20. I tested the It Bye Bye Undereye Concealer in Neutral/Medium and Bye Bye Pores Powder. Wow!
The concealer covered with one pinpoint of product and created a smooth, flawless look. (It took me a minute to figure out the amount and the first time was a bit much!)The color is a tad light for me, but still worked. This product is quite similar to Kevin Aucoin’s concealer at half the price. Bye Bye Undereye Concealer is/will be a permanent fixture on my beauty table! Great product!
I am also a fan of the Bye Bye Pores powder. The finish is non cakey and removes all traces of shine. Being an oily gal, being shine free is often intangible! I will be a lifelong fan of IT Cosmetics!

    1. @glamazon56 – I am so glad that you liked this product. I have reordered this product a couple times. I have many friends, who are amazed and how truly flawless it makes you face!

  21. Bye Bye pores powder doesn’t work that well for me. I tried it and it does reduce pores for me but not where it disappears. My pores are extremely large and my skin is always oily. Maybe this doesn’t completely work for those with extreme face issues. The biggest problem I would say is the longevity of this powder. I would say after an hour or two, I could see my pores again. I am going to keep using it when I am going out for the evening. I believe a few hours is as long as this powder will work.
