Guess where I am today? The Winchester Mystery House! Built by the heir to the Winchester riffle fortune, it’s a rambling mansion filled with architectural oddities developed to confuse ghosts. That’s right, a wacky haunted mansion! It’s been my dream to visit ever since I learned of it.
Check out more amazing vintage photos of the house here. And if you don’t already, follow us on Instagram at stefheartsthis to watch a California road trip in real time!

You’re going to Winchester without me?! nooooooo. So jealous. Don’t let the ghosts keep you – I want to be able to hear about it!
I have always wanted to visit the Winchester house. It is just the saddest, creepiest, and most messed up story of all time! I find it so fascinating and would love to tour the house. Ohh, wow!! I am super jealous and excited for you @stef!!
What a fun trip! And that place is nutty if you ask me! Weird people with money to spend… yeah, I watched a documentary on this home years ago.. It was really a bizarre one too! Who builds a house like that!
And, I go a month EASY in-between pedicures, sometimes longer! HA HA!
@stef – I am so jealous! I am dying to hit up the Winchester Mystery House! Did you see anything spooky?
Pedicure-wise, I typically do my toes every 2 weeks or the first sign of a chip. There’s nothing worse than chipped toe nail polish. :/
Nothing spooky, but it was very cold. Some rooms more than others – BOO! Very worth a trip. I want to do their Friday the 13th flashlight tours at night now.
