You think your honey is going to get you any perfume for Valentine’s Day? Yeah, mine neither. But there’s one scent being released just in time for V. Day that you may want to splurge on for yourself; Ralph Lauren Heart of Gold. That’s right Ralph Lauren, the original King of fragrance. Lauren was the first “fancy” bottle of perfume I ever bought, so I was excited to sample this.

Heart of Gold joins the previously released Love for a collection that is being considered Lauren’s most important fragrance endeavor (big words when you think about just how many scents this man has brought us). Both are in breathtaking, heart-shaped bottles. Both are also floral orientals, and share key ingredients of Bulgarian rose and amber. But Heart of Gold replaces the sandalwood of Love with a lighter note of magnolia. The outcome is fresh (being further enhanced by a middle note of ylang ylang), but with the amber giving it a slightly woody, sensual base.

For not being a huge floral fan myself, I found Heart of Gold to be very wearable, with none of the cloying qualities that, for me, often accompanies them. I’d describe it as a creamy floral; light, feminine and very beautiful. Will Heart of Gold capture yours? It just might…

The fragrance will be available at Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren stores and Saks Fifth Avenue.

  1. What a pretty bottle! And this does sound like it smells lovely!
Unfortunately, I’m on a self-imposed “no smelly-goods” buying freeze. I have way too many scents right now and I need to use them before they turn and I don’t have any! :-)

  2. This scent is truly amazing.. I got a nice whiff of Heart of Gold and loved it too.. I have always loved their fragrances over the years. They are as classic as it gets! Lucky you Stef to have such a pretty bottle!
