Beware! The Dangerous 5 Minute Chocolate Cake

5 min cake Beware! The Dangerous 5 Minute Chocolate Cakephoto: amy for we heart this

Hey weheartsters, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. It surely flew by for me. I’m here today to break any resolution you have to lose weight or cut out the sweets (sorry!) This recipe for a 5 minute chocolate cake is going to stun you with how convenient and yummy it is!

After the enormous amount of baking that took place at our home over the holidays, the last thing I wanted to do was haul out my KitchenAid mixer to bake. However, I had a HUGE craving for something chocolate, as usual. So, I pulled out this recipe from the site of gluten-free specialist, Jenn Cuisine for a microwave chocolate cake. It really, truly takes only 5 minutes to throw together, and that’s why it’s called dangerous!

• 4 tablespoons flour
• 4 tablespoons sugar
• 2 tablespoons cocoa
• 1 egg (when I halved the recipe, I just used the egg white)
• 3 tablespoons milk
• 3 tablespoons oil
• 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (I used white chocolate chips)
• Small splash of vanilla extract
• 1 large coffee mug

-Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.
-Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
-Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
-Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract, and mix again.
-Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

Tip: This recipe makes enough for two, but can easily be halved (the image is a half batch) for cake for one!

The verdict? Oh my….I never thought this was going to taste good, but I was wrong. This simple cake is REALLY yummy, gooey and chocolately… Dangerous, I tell you!

Oh no! I saw the title and thought “Chocolate cake, no problem, I shan’t be tempted!” because I assumed that there wasn’t a gluten free exchange that would work well. Then I kept reading and now it looks like I’m going to have to log a few more miles on the treadmill today!
That cake looks so good, it’s really putting my grapefruit breakfast to shame! I don’t think I’ll be able to resist the temptation of making the GF version tonight! Thanks @NiftyFoodie !

Okay, so I just made this b/c the hubby and I were doubtful it could work…but it was awesome. I used dark cocoa powder, so the cake was almost black and I used 2 T. mini chocolate chips. We topped it w/ some whipped cream. Fanfreakingtastic!

I am quandary. The left side of my brain says don’t read the ingredients you will be fine without dessert. The right side of my brain says . . . I wonder how that would be with PEANUT BUTTER chips instead of chocolate?

I’m sorry (not really) that I shared this recipe! It’s so yummy and too easy!

@Shaya C. That’s a bummer! I’m sorry it didn’t turn out. I had to power my microwave down a good bit (to 70%) to have this turn out well…it takes a little experimenting for bigger microwaves. :(

Sort of slow on the bandwagon, but I just tried this because I was craving cake bad and it is YUM. The texture is a bit different from other chocolate cakes–sort of feels like microwaved mochi–but the chocolate chips helps break up the slipperiness and makes it feel more like pudding when it’s warm. DELICIOUS. Thanks so much for sharing!
