Because it’s good, very, very good…

I have a confession. Despite my best intentions, I sometimes find it hard to love natural brands as much as I feel I should. For all their good vibes and healthy ingredients, sometimes green products feel a little Stone Age when compared to the technological advances of science-based brands.

If only we could combine nature and science, I’ve wished repeatedly…

That is, before I learned about British skincare brand Elemis and their fabulous “defined by nature, led by science” products. The company has been in business for 25 years, but because Elemis is new to me, I headed to their website to look around. I was wowed by their wide range of products for every skin type and condition.

My favorite thing on the site is “Ingredients A-Z,” a vast glossary of every natural element Elemis uses. Fascinating! There is nothing namby-pamby about these natural products. I got to sample three.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream review

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream ($128, 50ml)
Just how amazing is this anti-wrinkle day cream? Despite its premium price, one is sold every 9 seconds around the world! In clinical trials, 90% of woman found the product made their skin feel significantly firmer, and 80% of women found the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles was “dramatically reduced”—after just 14 days of use!

I’m 7 days in, and usually-skeptical me is a believer! The cream sinks right in and smells amazing. Active ingredients include Padina Pavonica, which the website glossary tells me is a Mediterranean algae with proven anti-aging benefits, blended with Ginkgo Biloba, Chlorella, Rose and Mimosa. The cream promises to firm, smooth and hydrate… check, check and check! The only complaint I have is no sunscreen, so I’m careful to wear another product containing SPF.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm ($64, 105g)
This super-rich balm is super-concentrated; only a tiny dab is enough. I massage it into my skin, and once it lathers use the included cloth to wipe away my makeup. Even though the balm is extremely rich, my skin feels clean and soft. The scent is strongly herbal/floral… is that lavender I smell? Whatever it is, it’s wonderful! The balm shouldn’t be used near the eyes, but is otherwise a versatile, nourishing, deep cleanser.

Again, clinical tests resulted in rave reviews; a whopping 96% of users reported skin that felt softened, soothed and clean. The balm is full of powerful botanicals. Rose and Mimosa waxes are blended with nourishing Elderberry, Starflower and Optimega™ oil. Algae Padina Pavonica adds an anti-aging kick.

Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator

Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator ($43, 50ml)
This “smoothing skin polish” is extremely gentle, yet somehow makes my skin feel as smooth as if I’d used a heavy exfoliator. The secret is micro-spherical Jojoba beads, which are blended with hydrating Rose Absolute and Cucumber extract that is full of natural anti-oxidant Vitamin C. Gentle Rose Exfoliator is recommended for weekly use, but the rose scent is so enticing, I’m tempted to exfoliate more often.

If these three products are any indication, I need to check out more from Elemis. Luckily, their website has a handy “find our products” feature, and I have several local spots where I can shop for Elemis products– the perfect blend of nature, science and scent.
