.
1. I signed up for an account, but never got an email to activate it.
Check your junk email folder. There’s a good chance it may be hiding in there. If not, and 48 hours have passed, you should sign up again. If the problem persists, contact us and we’ll try to get to the bottom of it!
2. Can I promote my own blog when leaving comments/What is CommentLuv?
If you are a we heart this member, email us your username and blog url and you will be able to get a link at the end of your comments that will promote your own blog via CommentLuv! (Important: only we can activate this feature for you.)
Once you’ve emailed us, all you do is check the CommentLuv box at the bottom of the comment field in any post. This will pull your blog’s latest post in as a link on any comment you leave.
If you are not a member, entering your url in the Your Homepage field and checking the CommentLuv box when you post a comment will do the same thing.
And if you register your blog at CommentLuv you’ll even be able to choose from your last 10 blog posts!
3. I see you offer blogs. I want one, but don’t know how to get started…
Your Dashboard is where you can add new posts to your blog and manage existing ones. How do you get there? From top grey navigation bar on any page on the site, choose My Blogs, then Your Name from the drop down menu, and Dashboard from the pop out menu. Once on your Dashboard, choose Posts from the left navigation column, and then Add New. Of course, there is way more you can do with your blog. Visit the WordPress help page for more information. Believe us, if we can do this-so can you! And If you already have a blog, feel free to feed your content into your wht blog for extra visibility.
4. How do I change my password?
First, log-in using your current (or wht generated) password. There are 3 ways to get to your profile from our main page: Select the Your Profile link in the right hand column, click on your avatar image in that same area, or select My Account, then Profile in the top grey navigation bar. From your profile page, select the Settings link in the Me column. Make sure you are on the General page of the Options column (you should be) and enter your new password twice and select Save Changes.
Yeah, this feature can be frustrating sometimes, especially if you are trying to change your avatar image. First step is to make sure your image is the right size (images at least 150×150 pixels seem to be best). Beyond that, our best advice is to be patient and try it again. And if it just won’t work, your image file size is probably too large. Try another one.
6. What’s my Wire/how do I send messages to other members?
If a person posts a message on your Wire (located on your profile page), to answer them click on their image to be taken to their Wire and post a reply. If you leave them a message on your own Wire, they won’t see it. Think of your Wire as a Facebook wall or even more simply, a yearbook. You wouldn’t write a yearbook message to someone else in your own book, just as you wouldn’t write a message to someone else on your own Wire.
You can also leave a new Wire message on any members profile page by filling in the field found at the bottom of their page. Or send a private message by selecting the link under a the photo on their profile page.
7. How do I sign up for, change or opt out of email notifications?
Log-in to your account. Choose 1 of the 3 ways to get to your profile from our main page: Select the Your Profile link in the right hand column, click on your avatar image in that same area, or select My Account, then Profile in the top grey navigation bar. From your profile page, select the Settings link in the Me column. Then select Notifications from the Options column. Here you have a number of options to receive emails to alert you when there is activity on your profile. Choose your preferences and click Save Changes. You can also get to this same location by choosing My Account in the top grey navigation bar, then from the drop down menu select My Account, Settings and finally notifications.
Hint: Once you are logged in, you can always check for your Notifications by clicking on the link in the top grey navigation bar from every wht page.
All members are also automatically signed up for our weekly email newsletter. If you no longer wish to receive it, choose the unsubscribe link in the email.
8. What are wishlists and favorites?
Two very special features available to members who have blogs. Once you are logged in, click on the cake icon at the bottom of any post and it will start a wishlist on your blog. Use it as a shopping list for yourself or better yet-send the link to your blog to anyone who may need gift ideas for you! Click on the heart icon at the bottom of any post and you will add the post to your favorites, also found on your blog. Want to remember to try a certain recipe, check out a featured company or read a particularly good post again? This is the list you’ll want to use.
Want to remove an item from either your wishlist or favorites? You can delete items from your Dashboard panel (see Question #3). Choose Links from the left navigation column, then select the box of any items you’d like to delete and choose Delete (located under the post’s name).
9. I tried to respond to a friend request email and received a 404 error message.
This occurs when you select a link in an email notification and you are not logged into your wht account. You can log in to your account (see Question #7 for all the ways to do that) and then re-click the link in the email. OR once your logged in, select Friends in the first column on your profile page (the Me column). Then select Requests in the My Friends column and you will see all your incoming friend requests. Than you’re ready to make some new friends! Note: you can click the Remember Me box when logging in to skip this step in the future.
10. I need more info on the “tell me more” questions and my profile page please…
Why does she have more info showing on her profile page than I do on mine? Answer: Because she filled out the Tell Us More section on her profile. Here’s how you do it: When you are logged in and on your profile page (see Question #7 for all the ways to do that), click Edit Profile (second selection in the My Profile column). On that next page, select Tell Us More (the third option to the right of your My Profile column) then get answering! Please note: Answering these questions will also give you a second entry into any of our giveaways that you enter (not to mention-really kind of fun!)
And what are all those orange links all over my profile page? Answer: They are a very cool feature of our social platform of choice Buddypress. Clicking on any of the randomly generated links on your profile page will create a search page of other wht members who list the same items on their profile. As we continue to grow, this will keep you in touch with other members with similar interests to yours.
