I take the latest from NARS for a drive, literally

Sometimes the stars align. On the very day that I was leaving for a 2-night getaway to Vegas, a package from NARS arrived on my doorstep. In it was the limited edition Day Dream blush. What better travel companion on my trip to Sin City then a blush that’s part of the Guy Bourdin collection; the 70’s French fashion photographer known for his sexual, often controversial imagery.

I decided Day Dreamicon ($29) would be the ONE blush I would bring. Putting it up to the challenge of both day and night looks. How did it fair? And what kind of trouble did we find? Read on…

Guy Bourdin aside, I was hard pressed to find one controversial thing about Nars Day Dream. It’s the perfect peachy-pink coral with just a hint of shimmer. And I do mean perfect. It’s like the baby bear of the blush world; not too hot, not too cold, it’s just right! It reminds me very much of a less shimmery Orgasm (the peachy-pink coral that all others are judged by.)

It’s also beautifully pigmented and has the silky texture that NARS blushes are known for. Seriously, have you ever met a NARS blush you didn’t like? I haven’t!

So Nars Day Dream and I hit the road. First stop Route 66 to get some kicks. The blush gave me just the subtle glow I needed for a fresh-faced, daytime drive.

But what I wanted to really see was how it would hold up for a night on the town. I paired it with a red lip and it looked just as great glam as it did au natural.

We hit the town…

My road trip proved what I thought that it would – the latest from NARS is a Day Dream indeed. And the perfect nighttime partner in crime as well.

  1. NARS never was so lucky to get such a Las Vegas Day Dreaming trip! Looks like it held up just fine.. come on.. Taking to Route 66 is the coolest pic! The pigmented of this is really nice and it looks super velvety on you.. it really is what NARS is all about and I’d be day dreaming too.

  2. Love that shade! Looks super versatile. Glad to hear it’s not super shimmery (not that there’s anything wrong with shimmer, but sometimes that’s not what you’re going for!). The second pic from the bottom is cracking me up – love it!

    1. Too much shimmer can look like it’s sitting in pores – never a good look! Glad I cracked you up @heather

  3. omg I love this post so much. Looks like everyone had a great time in Vegas! :) I debated over and over on getting this during this past Sephora VIB and passed. Totally an error on my part now that I see this blog. I LOVE NARS blushes though and I’m sure this one doesn’t disappoint!

  4. Okay, this post is so fun and the perfect pairing of product/location–I’m thinking you need to take a makeup item on ever trip you take, EVER; it’s like the traveling gnome prank but way more awesome. And the blush looks great, obvs.

    1. I think I may just do that @Amity – good idea! I’m not sure I’ll ever have such a symbiotic paring again though.

  5. @stef – You are too stinkin’ cute, Drunkie McDrunkerson! You’re making me want this blush…quit it! lol
I have many NARS blushes and I love them all, but Outlaw is my blush of choice–I’m very pale and with a light hand, Outlaw gives me a perfect rosy flush. It was discontinued and brought back and I stocked up like nobody’s business. Love it!

    1. Oh, I would have given you such a hug! I hate to enable, but you need this blush.

  6. Your photos are AWESOME. hahaha I particularly loved the one with the blush by the martini glass ;) This blush looks lovely–and not too shimmery. I have Orgasm and Super Orgasm and while they are pretty, they are a bit on the sparkly side.

    1. They were GOOD martinis! Yeah, I prefer not so much sparkly in the blush dept. too.

  7. This IS the perfect color! I am loving more of a peachy-tone blush for winter since I think it blends better. Your photos of it are hilarious/amazing. They should snag the one against the lights for ads!

  8. This was hysterical–it’s like the lovely blush has a life of its own, playing slots, partaking in martinis, etc. I was laughing aloud! It’s a beautiful color and you gave it the best a blush could want!

  9. LOVE this color! It’s going right to the top of my Xmas list!
