Urban Decay has been one of my favorite brands for a long time. As a teen I was obsessed with their cool packaging, ‘wild’ colors and edgy vibe. And today, UD continues to CRUSH IT when it comes to creating some of the best shades on the market.

But what good is an amazing shade if it doesn’t last? So, we decided to put the classic Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray to the test ($32/4oz, $15/1 oz).

UD calls it a weightless spray that keeps makeup looking “just-applied” for up to 16 hours. If you’re wondering how that’s possible, you’re not alone. Our editor Stef explained it in a previous post:

“What’s happening is that setting sprays contain polymers in a solvent. VERY similar to a hairspray. When you spray it on your makeup, the solvent evaporates and the polymers blend with your makeup to form a film that holds your make-up in place.”

All Nighter goes even a step further and features a patented Temperature Control Technology, which literally lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep it in place in any condition (hot, wet, damp, even cold). No melting, cracking, fading or settling into fine lines. It’s also lightweight and good for all skin-types.

To be honest, I’ve never really been into makeup setting sprays and was skeptical about trying it. Plus, it’s been a long time since I pulled anything close to an all-nighter. I’m winding down at home by 8pm, even on the weekends. My skin is oily and acne-prone and I’m typically pretty happy with how my makeup holds up. And I do put it through the wringer. My makeup even looked fresh after running a marathon!

So I was pretty stoked to see that with All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray, my makeup held up even better than it usually does. I was expecting to feel some kind of film or layer on my skin, but nope!

Here’s the proof…

I really put it to the test, too–I applied it around 6am before teaching super sweaty back-to-back classes at Barre3, blew my nose a hundred times (I’m coming down with a cold), and then took a nap. At 6pm, I was impressed with how fresh my makeup still looked! My mascara was a little smudgy from the nap, and I had wiped off some of the makeup around my nose from all the tissues. But overall, my makeup was looking significantly better than it usually does.

I don’t typically use setting spray, but I’m now a convert. Might I suggest ordering this on auto-replenish through UD Reloaded–you’ll get free shipping and a deluxe sample.

I guess nearly ten thousand online reviewers knew what’s up. And now, so do you and I!

PS) In case you were wondering about the makeup, it’s all Urban Decay. I’m wearing Double Down Brow waterproof brow putty and Brow Endowed Brow Volumizer primer + color, both in Brunette Betty (medium brown); bronzer and highlighter from the NAKED Illuminated Trio; 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero and Love Drug; and eyeshadow in Dark Force and Zodiac.
