One of my major joys of running this website for 7+ years is that it gives me an excuse to shop. “Honey, I have to do research for we heart this!” I say as I enter the umpteenth store in any area we visit. And with the ease of online shopping, I literally shop every day. Someone pinch me.
Now, most times I don’t buy a thing. It’s purely looking for things to share with you, dear readers. But every once in a while, something pops up that just has to be mine. That was the case when I was helping with the 2015 Gift Guide For the Anglophile and I first discovered A Gier Design and her delightful Etsy page.
I love customizing my décor with items of meaning. Don’t get me wrong, I love random pretty crap as much as the next gal. But if things can have a special significance to our home, I’m happy. (As shown in the photo above and below.) Which is why A Gier Design is so fabulous: totally customizable and utterly adorable. There’s something for every design esthetic.
vintage portrait of my Mom’s family
It was hard to choose just one design, Amelia had SO many that I loved. But ultimately, I went with vintage cameo portraits with me and my husband’s hometown maps (London and Philadelphia). I added our names and wedding date, and the finished piece makes me smile every time I look at it.
Her work would make the best gift. It’s affordable, sure to tug at heart strings and so beautiful. Honestly, I didn’t see one of the 372 designs in her Etsy store that I wouldn’t be happy to hang on my wall. From home town pride, memorializing special dates or classic quotes from literature; there’s something for everyone and every occasion.
Full disclosure, my print was in exchange for this post. But I would have happily paid. Prices are extremely reasonable and the matting and framing is top notch. My 11×14 customized print retails $65, and framing in a 16×20 in a black matte frame goes for $75. But if your budget is smaller, you can get an 8×10 print starting around $12. She’ll even print on canvas if you’d like.
a beautiful addition to my eclectic and sentimental home
This print is such a lovely addition to my home. And I can already think of a few gifts I want to order. (If you’re a friend of mine and have an upcoming wedding, forget you read this.) If you want to give a unique gift too, check out A Gier Design. The recipient will be happy, and you’ll look like the gift-giving superstar you are!
Stef is many things. Amongst them: editor-in-chief and co-founder of we heart this, photographer, condiment connoisseur, Philly girl in the California desert, borderline hoarder and a hardcore beauty junkie.
This is such a great gift idea, whether as a wedding gift or as an anniversary present! I love this especially since @stef and her hubby are from different countries. This would probably be way less exciting for me and my hubby because we’re from towns 15 minutes apart. :)
Thanks for introducing me to Gier. I love giving unusual gifts so this will come in handy.
