Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation Review

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation photos: we heart this

I have never had even a love/hate relationship with liquid foundation. I have long hated it, period. Throughout my life, every liquid foundation that I have tried has let me down in a major way. My three biggest complaints have always been that it breaks me out, it feels like a mask, and/or that the color looks clownish and doesn’t match a natural skin tone.

I had all but given up hope of finding a liquid foundation that would work for me, until Tyna broke the news on we heart this that Benefit Cosmeticsicon was introducing their very first liquid foundation, the uniquely named “Hello Flawless!” Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundationicon.

I was instantly intrigued, since Benefit is so excellent with their product innovation. Then I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of the foundation in “I’m Plush & Precious” Petal to test. Available in nine shades, I was hoping that perhaps I would finally find my perfect foundation match.

After a few test runs of this foundation, here is what I found:

Pros:
Extremely lightweight formula (no mask here).
Buildable coverage.
Oil-free with SPF 25 equals no breakouts for my sensitive skin. (Amazing!)
Overall brightening of my complexion.
Outstanding packaging. The pump keeps everything sanitary and distributes the perfect amount.
A Bonus – there are matching shades of Hello Flawless Powder.

The Con:
Extremely oily complexions may experience a bit more shine with this one. But it was not a deal-breaker for me.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this foundation. It is light and airy, while still providing decent coverage. I got lots of compliments while wearing it. My skin has definitely appeared to be more even and bright while using it. Also, I actually think that $34 for 1 oz is a decent price. The bottle should last a long time, with the precision of the pump.

Benefit has certainly pushed me to give liquid foundation a second chance. I recommend it if you want to breathe new life into your beauty routine.

  1. I got to try “I’m so glamber” Amber and this is definitely one of those products that is four stars for me, but one that I KNOW has potential as five for a LOT of others.

I adore pumps on foundation of any type, and this pump doles out just the right amount. It’s light and almost slippery feeling, but not in a bad way at all. The slip makes it easier to apply, it’s not too thick and not too thin, and helped with a more even coverage. While Amber wasn’t a match for my skintone, I can definitely see the brightening qualities of the formula. It really felt like I had nothing on and gave pretty good coverage, like the cross between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation.

My only quibble is @kellie76 ‘s only con – the dewy qualities of this ran to dang near oily by the end of the day. Having to add powder diminishes some of the benefits of Hello Flawless!, so between that and preferring a deeper coverage, I count this as four stars.
But if you’re normal to dry skin and want something lighter that feels like nothing, this is SO up your alley. Heck, I think this might even work for oily gals in a drier climate than I have; it’s not great for me in Texas, but were I to move back to Arizona, I think I’d have a different opinion.

Also? An expected bonus of the line is that the colors seems to run darker than most overall. I’m a NC-42 and while Amber was too red for me, I think “Warm Me Up” Toasted Beige would be perfect. Having a line that has equal amounts of light AND dark shades is so refreshing that I almost want to add a star back on just for that! :-)

  2. I didn’t receive “Hello Flawless” to test, but I have had the chance to test a friend’s bottle. Yeah, my T-Zone is killing me by the end of the night. Sure, I can blot and powder a few times throughout the day, but I admit that I was hoping for something a little more from Benefit. I won’t give a star rating as I don’t think I’ve used it enough times to really give a thorough review, but I think folks with calmer skin would do well to give it a shot!

  3. I am still enjoying this foundation. Everything that I said in the review rings true. After well over a month of use I have had no break outs or skin irritation. It is a little shiny for my very oily skin. And I absolutely agree that it runs dark. I highly recommend testing it in a store if you have the chance. I may switch to the lightest shade as I am ghostly pale! 4 stars from me! Good stuff overall!!

  4. Great Review @kellie76 !! I have wondered about this formulation. I have used the powder/compact version of Hello Flawless. First, it is no secret that I have not met a Benefit product that I have not liked. I really love a product with a pump because it helps with portion control. The only sticking point is that my skin does not always like products that already have SPF in them. (I have to add SPF seperately.)

  5. I tried Beige and unfortunately it was a bit dark for me right out of the bottle :( I think I may be a shade lighter. I still tested it though for the formula which I was dying to try. It’s definitely light and lovely on the skin. I also love that it has SPF in it. I’ll give this 4 stars.

  6. Well, it sounds like if your skin is normal to dry and if you can match the shade right, this is a seller. I am going to Benefit later so I’ll check it out.. It sounds pretty cool.. I’ll report back later!

  7. I’ve been wondering how this product performs. I actually think Petal is a good match for me, but I’ll have to check it out at Ulta of course. Sounds like a promising product though! Definitely adding it to my to buy list.
