Dr. Dennis Gross Vitamin D Serum-Oilphotos: we heart this

The road to complexion hell is paved with good intentions. You try to protect your skin from the serious dangers of sun exposure– like cancer and premature aging– and end up deficient in the one thing that will keep it young: Vitamin D. In his practice, wht favorite Dr. Dennis Grossicon observed that patients who avoided the sun and used high levels of sunscreen suffered from Vitamin D deficiencies as a result. In other words, we are damned if we tan, and damned if we don’t.

Or, at least, we were. Until recently, the only way to correct Vitamin D deficiency without sun exposure was through dietary supplement. But now, the good doctor has developed the first and only skincare product, Vitamin D Serum-Oilicon, that actually provides necessary levels of Vitamin D to skin through topical application alone.

Other Vitamin D oils need sun to activate them, which is why Dr. Dennis Gross’ formula is so revolutionary. It contains Ergocalciferol, an ingredient that is already active and does not require sunlight to make it work. It also contains a host of other powerful ingredients, including:

Squalane – a naturally derived emollient effective against dryness
Willow Bark Extract – which clears pores and exfoliates
Soybean Extract – which encourages collagen production
Retinol – a powerful wrinkle and line smoother that also increases moisture and elasticity

Dr. Dennis Gross Vitamin D Serum-Oil

Housed in a medicinal-looking bottle with a nifty dropper, the Vitamin D Serum-Oilicon ($65) is thick and concentrated. Just 2 or 3 small drops are all I needed to massage into my face and neck after washing. Surprisingly light for an oil, it soaked right in and created a smooth base for makeup, a result I could see immediately. I also used it as a substitute for my heavy night cream.

It only took about a week of twice-daily use for me to notice the major changes in my skin. I’m my own harshest critic, but even I had to admit that my skin looked younger and plumper, and some fine lines I’d been obsessing over were barely visible. My skintone was more luminous, almost as if I’d used a light bronzer. And no breakouts at all, always a concern with oils. This is one powerful serum!

Pros:
Great for all skin types, even combination/oily
Concentrated; only a few drops are needed per application
Light, natural scent
Noticeable results in a very short time; improvement in hydration, elasticity, hyperpigmentation, and pore size

Greens:
Vegan
Cruelty Free
Formulated without parabens, sulfates, or synthetic fragrances/dyes

Cons:
A bit expensive at $65 for 1.0 fl oz, but I think it’s a reasonable price for such a high-quality, effective and unique serum

  1. As a 9-5’er, I barely get enough Vitamin D since I’m indoors all day. I think this would be a perfect addition to my skincare routine. I don’t mind the price tag as long as it’s a good, legit oil product :)

  2. I’m 8-5’er! I have for many years not let my face or much of my skin see the sun.. It’s been a good thing for the most part.. not so many wrinkles for a 48 year old.. but I know it also has needed vitamin D in a big way.. This product fills that void. I’ve been a fan of Dr. Gross for years too and was thrilled test out this product.. It goes on well and soaks in fast even though its an oil. It also smells nice. Just remember to shake the bottle before use! I kept forgetting to do that. You only need a couple drops! I noticed my skin was softer and just looked more radiant within a couple weeks.. I will be buying this again..My bottle is half 3/4 gone already.. love this product, just wish is was not that expensive, but like I said.. I will be getting this again! Five Stars from me…

    1. That’s funny, @irene , I kept forgetting to shake the bottle, too! My love for this oil has only grown stronger in the time since I wrote this post. I will be buying another bottle as soon as the last drops of this one are gone. Expensive? A little. Worth it? Every penny! 5 stars from me, too!

  3. Hummm, I wonder if I could pass this off as a medical expense. LOL! I’m one of the (probably millions of) Americans with a major vitamin D deficiency. Having Celiac disease makes it awfully hard to absorb fat soluble vitamins like D so I take a prescription every week or so. I think that a serum would be a much more fun alternative! And with such rave reviews I think I need to try this one out. Thanks @turboterp !
